In the mean time we could get a cheap option on loan. Or maybe even give Josh Knight a chance who has had a similar trajectory to KDH (loved by all the clubs he's been on loan to, championship experience, etc). 1

We need a player in the Evans mould. Someone a little longer in the tooth. There won't be as many of them available for loan either. 5

Tarkowski available on a free next year would no doubt see one of the big boy teams get involved, and as they would probably offer a similar role and more wages, it would be a lot harder to get him We need someone with experience like Evans to come in rather than someone young like Knight or a loanee 1

Well it gives us the option to play 3 if we want and options are what we must have. 2
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 4 June 2021 Posted 4 June 2021 Evans isn't going to be fit all season and if we're planning on going deep in 4 competitions we'll need 4 quality centre halves. It doesn't necessarily mean a back 4 constantly but it gives us decent options of both systems. We've just won the fa cup playing a back 3 and beat man City, man utd (twice) and Chelsea playing back 3 as well so it can't be that bad

RowlattsFox Posted 4 June 2021 Posted 4 June 2021 Whilst Tarkowski and Bertrand aren't exciting, a clear problem we have is leaders on the pitch. Think both have been captains. Not massive fan of spending too much but 4 centre back options of Evans, Soyuncu, Fofana and Tarkowski is pretty good. Not sure there is a better set in the league? 1
