In all seriousness why did VAR not overturn the clearly incorrect red card?

Because they are all pals & don't want to make their mate look bad

Absolute laugh if Switzerland shit house a penalty win here.

Probs the outcome most neutrals want.

Crying shame that Spain don't have a proper CF. Get rid of these reds please, they remind me of Greece 2004.

They scored three against France to be fair.

I reckon Yann Sommer is pretty good you know!

To this Yank, this looks more and more like Tim Howard v Belgium in the 2014 WC.

Bit late but only me who thinks it was a red then

I know it ruined the display but it was high and excessive, his trailing leg clearly catches the shin...

It just wasn’t a red not even an argument

If France have played seriously the whole game and not only 20 minutes, it would have never happened. Deschamps might have screwed up their starting lineup in the first half, but their meltdown in the last 20 minutes is on PSG level.

I'm all for underdogs but I just can't warm to this lot. I want them out.

I don’t think it’s as clear cut as is being made out on here. I think because it’s an English ref a lot of people are looking for an opportunity to criticise. That challenge was on the edge and different refs would see it different ways, neither are right or wrong, it’s all about interpretation. I personally think for those types of decisions the on field ref should use the monitor and make his mind up one way or another.

I love seeing the shock on players' faces when they've feigned injury, pause their agony to check what the ref gave, and then realise its not gone their way lol

I think it’s debatable.

Could have been a yellow.

if you take into account that Spanish players go over in style at the slightest of touches, its a yellow at most.

I can't believe anyone is looking at that and thinking it's even close to red card. Football fans have seemingly become immune to red cards for any sort of tackle.
