Your surely not giving up your motorbike because of this!

Climate change? The greatest tangible threat to the survival of the humanity in recorded history? - funnily enough yes. it's becoming untenable and unjustifiable to run it. Moreover, I might have it hermetically sealed in a show cabinet and masturbate over it thrice weekly.

I weighed myself on Friday, something that I very rarely do.

I was 12 stone 6.

Just weighed myself again, bang on 12 stone.

I was joking earlier saying I'd sweated out half a stone, but I literally have!

So the frozen mixed veg up your cracker basically amounted to **** all beyond indulging a weird personal fetish?

They were amazing help. Ice on the crown of your head is a very effective way of cooling you down.

I looked like Ranieri when he wore a cap at Bournemouth away though, just didn't fit right.

I had more strange looks because of the ones down the front of my pants, people thought I was packing lol

I mean, I am, but not to that extent

Absolutely awful day in the lab. PPE literally slid off with sweat

Horrible things. Doing full resus in PPE in this heat is a killer

Pretty similar to what I've been in all day actually, think we may have had a little more on too.

But seriously. Whatever we do will make no difference. Just cost us all a fortune for nothing.

Why should we make our lives worse  if the big emitters are doing very little.

Fair enough If they pull their finger out but if not why bother.

I'm perhaps being a bit naive and idealistic,  especially at a time when we seem determined as a nation to self sabotage our reputation and piss away the influence we used to have into the gutter, but I think leading by example is very much a thing.

I would absolutely agree with you that other countries need to do their bit, but with many of them likely to feel the pain of climate breakdown quicker and more dramatically than we do,  if we're ahead of the curve then I expect they'll be beating a path to our door to buy our expertise and technology

Although I thought it was a great idea, the suggestion of an afternoon siesta, like they do in Spain, would promote a more productive workforce didn’t wear with the powers that be.

Been a bit more bearable today than I was anticipating.

Basically stayed indoors most of the day and only emerged about an hour ago to sit in the shade. Uncomfortable but doable for 2 days

Today was the hors d’oeuvre……tomorrow will be a notable day with the e mids in the sweet spot to record 38/40 c with a gusty breeze and low humidity  …. Almost certain that no one will have sat in those conditions in this region for at least a thousand years …. don’t miss the opportunity!

Nah, I think China is probably a million miles ahead of us with the technology to combat climate change but a million miles behind us with the motivation to do so.

I reckon today was a degree or so lower than predicted, hopefully tomorrow again will be a notch less than the nightmare of 40 degrees.

Either way, at least tomorrow the end is in sight and the joy of Wednesday and 24 degrees to offer some relief.

Doing more than 2 days of this tho without the aircon you get in hot countries would be nigh on unthinkable. The irony being of course that the hundreds of millions of aircon units drinking fuel has led to this shite in the first place

We wear those PPE suits over our uniform and have a respirator hood on as well. The sheer physical effort of a full resus in full PPE in this heat is exhausting but at least we aren't in it all day. It must be as bad over a shift for you

Surely we're due the mother of all thunderstorms?

That's why Florida is bearable, don't get me wrong, being there is like walking into a greenhouse, but about 5pm every evening, the heavens open, steam comes off the pavement and for a short while, the air is fresh.

Hinckley? You've gone right down in my estimation.

Suppose you could've said Coalville, that'd be much worse!

My dad owned the Stage Door restaurant under the Brittania Theatre over there in the late 80's.

It was a shithole.

I remember the Stage Door. Never went but I knew of it. For the reason you mention

My vague recollection was a few big parties there, like wedding receptions and I'd be picking up pound coins from the dance floor. Damn those cardboard tops off party poppers, hard to differentiate lol

Alright, just because you've got an extra finger on each hand and you find your sister attractive :whistle:lol

I'm joking! Enough people on here hate me, I'm not alienating the Coalvillians!

The leading by example just isnt/won't work now, we aren't the big player we used to be. Only one who could have a serious impact would be China, which yeah fat chance.

That’s exactly my point, you’ve taken 15 minutes to come up with a quip straight from the 1970’s book of quick quips, by queenie from quarn
