Bit depressing though ain't it

The fact that they could well become a necessity due to inaction up to this point is depressing, aye.

The first ever red weather warning since they began ‘doing’ red weather warnings.

They started the system last year 🤣

I would think that the decision that the system was needed in the first place would be concerning enough.

Alcohol probably isn't the best thing in this weather!

I pint of Heineken followed by 1 pint of water 😆

Being serious though it is very hot. Never been in heat like this. Also staying in our caravan which has no air con so its not overly pleasant.

Not sure previously permafrosted and now melted tundra would be good land for arable farming or for habitation tbh, for a variety of reasons.

I'm not sure either.  But it sounds a better bet than reformatting the sun!

Just stepped outside to eat my lunch and it’s like getting off an air conditioned plane in a hot country. Managed 8 mins in the sun until I felt my blood boiling and back inside the house for me for a few hours.

Thankfully my house is a very old (partly built in 1708) with very thick walls. Also north facing so it’s lovely and cool. Great in summer not so in winter.

edit to add temp in garden is currently showing 34 and 36 on 2 diff thermometers.

In the winter, just do the opposite and open up all the windows and doors in the afternoon? 🤔

Agreed.

But better still would be arranging matters so that choice never has to be made. That is still possible.

When the shutters are shut - yeah, but open they're quite aesthetically pleasing. All the rage in West Dulwich and Holland Park darling.

Today is hard work, but I had a stroke of genius.

Went into a local co op and bought 2 bags of mixed veg.

I split 1 bag into some polybags we carry in the van.

1 straight down my pants, 1 under my cap.

Cool as a fvcking cucumber.

They are due to thaw out soon though and it could get messy.

Went out for a lunchtime walk and its well nice. Proper body warming heat, breeze and low humidity. One non-value-add zoom meeting to go then its straight into the garden with an ice cream and a heineken 0

Yeah, the breeze is lovely and very welcome when you catch it. Within reason, I like the the heat, (tell that to someone from the Nineveh Plain or the Danakil Depression), but really feel for those in the UK that are debilitated by it.

My partner went into labour in this heat last year (feel like everyone has forgotten how hot this week last year was...) so i've been staying very ****ing quiet about my mild discomfort today lol

All the Tory leadership candidates have now committed to net zero, so the timing of the heatwave is at least slightly helpful.

Probably roll back on that when it cools down on Wednesday

I'm not sure the UK meeting it's net zero promise will make much difference to the overall temperature of the planet.

More difference than not doing it.
