Windows closed. Curtains shut. All day.

Walked outside at 1pm and the difference in heat was like wtf (front of house was shaded as well).

Came back later and walking back into the house was like walking into an air conned shop (ok not literally as cool but you get the point).

Been ok all day. Amazing how the simplest of things work.

Alright! It was only a joke. Nothing against anyone from Coalville at all.

Please take it in good spirits!

Felt like a day down in the south of France.  Could start a vineyard business if this keeps up.

I still maintain though that the reaction to this heat is over exaggerated.  It's not extreme, it's French wine country weather.

I've been moaning so much about having to be out working in the sun and these temperatures today.

I just have one question...

Do I play golf tomorrow or go and watch Northants against Lancashire in the cricket? lol

Surely we're due the mother of all thunderstorms?

That's why Florida is bearable, don't get me wrong, being there is like walking into a greenhouse, but about 5pm every evening, the heavens open, steam comes off the pavement and for a short while, the air is fresh.

Miami is a laugh but most of Florida reminds me of Coalville ironically. Proper inbred county. Bet most Floridians don’t believe in climate change etc

Tell that to the farmers whose crops are failing

Just nipped upstairs to put the fan on in the bedroom with a huge bowl of ice water In front. Bear in mind that I've had the curtains and windows shut all day and the downstairs is far cooler than up (thermostat says 28.9 in the living room) and fook me, there won't be any sleeping tonight. Absolutely horrific.

So the frozen mixed veg up your cracker basically amounted to **** all beyond indulging a weird personal fetish?

Or dedicated to getting his five a day with both hands on the wheel.

Worked up to about three today, was bearable due to the low humidity however the last hour was tough as the the temperature really started to ramp up. Sun cream, wide brimmed hat, sunglasses, also put a long sleeved running shirt under my work shirt to help keep the heat off my skin plus long trousers.

Home, ice pole, beer and hot (cool) tub.

Looking at tomorrows temperatures especially early on I don’t think I’ll be doing much. = Lazy day lol

I go on & on about this but the missus & kids insist on having windows & curtains open all day. Drives me mad every bloody year.

Been banging on to the Mrs about this. Doors and windows closed, curtains closed until it starts to cool outside.

I come home from work, all the windows and curtains are open, as is the back door, so the dog can go outside lol

We're now boiling and the dog wishes she hadn't spent all day in the garden.

Just to reassure everyone, the dog is fine, she seeks out shade and has her own paddling pool to cool down in.

Pain in the arse though!

That's your disclaimer is it from yesterday's "zero chance that the temperature will be up by 10 degrees from today"? Would you like a list of the areas of the UK that it was - and the others where it wasn't far off? And regarding your vineyard business idea, this will indeed 'keep up' - doesn't it strike you as concerning that it's an entirely viable suggestion?

Do you subscribe to Mike Yeadon and Ivor Cummins for your meteorological data too?

Which historically and geographically, doesn't belong in the UK. Incidentally, are you aware of what occurred in the 'the south of France' last month and is happening right now?

I found today just as tolerable you, but that's irrelevant given the prevalent global trends and the fact that these higher temperatures are set to become more common in the UK. Really not sure of the point you are attempting to make here.

I just love the thought that we're all moaning about this and @FoxesDeb woke up from her siesta thinking "pussies" lol

I'll admit I'm used to these temps now, it made me smile earlier when the temperature for here was the same as in Wigston, here it's described as quite warm, in Wigston it's extremely hot with a red weather warning!

The difference is I've got shutters on all my windows, air conditioning in the living room and all the bedrooms, and a swimming pool I've been in several times today

We go out early in the morning, stay indoors from about 2 til 5, and then go out to eat at about 9. It's a whole different way of living, respecting the heat.

I don't envy any of you atm. And quite why any of you have your windows open is beyond me  absolute madness, you're just letting the heat in

Golf... hot no cold beer on tap but entertaining. Cricket... hot, probably hotter than golf. Cold beer available but boring... IMO
