So as an specific example of how he makes us a better team,  in today's game, first half especially, there was a few times where he ran the channels and gave us an out ball. Got us much higher up the pitch and allowed us much more control. We don't have any other striker that offers that.

Do I think he's the best striker in the division, hell no, but I do think he's the best we have. Rather him than Ayew or carranza based on what I've seen so far.

So he has no technical ability, offers the team nothing, etc etc.

Pretty good pass round the corner on Tuesday for the goal!

Yes, agreed but since the Moscow game his highlights reel has been pretty underwhelming

Patson is erratic. That itself makes him a threat. His unpredictability plays havoc with modern tactical systems. We have no idea what he is doing. He has no idea what he is doing. And in that, lies his skill.

You'd think he'd have better returns as he's mastered the art of dead eyed shooting

As he doesn't know where the ball is going the goalie can't have a clue

Let's see:

Runs around like a headless chicken.

Spends a lot of time falling over on his arse.

Supposed to be a striker but can't score to save his life.

The team plays better when he's on the pitch anyway.

We hoped we were getting a Vardy-type striker, but we got an Okazaki-type instead?

Please don't insult Shinji with that. But saying that I want Daka to succeed so badly, he seems a hard working, honest player. Would love to see him turn it round.

It's a plus on Cifuentes that he's ditched the Ayew experiment. Daka isn't ever going to be the answer in the long run but we're better with him on the pitch for now.

There's a reason why they're 'types' - those within are usually poorer versions of the original ;)

Missed the game today as I was playing, when I see Daka’s thread at the top and hot… I genuinely don’t know what to think.

Good or bad? I always hope good. His smile is too beautiful to hate.

played against a bloke who was as bought by Everton at 15 for £2m, had an alcohol, drug issue… still reckon he’s better than Daka (he had me running all over anyway) 🤣

I think he’s passed issues on to me 😆

Daka played well yesterday whether we like it or not.

Hopefully he gets a consistent run in the side and finds his shooting boots too after about 6 years. I’m starting to think there’s a player in there somewhere

You hadn’t replied, I was typing with squinty eyes for ages. Cheers for the insight. Daka isn’t going to ‘come good’, he just need to be alright. That’ll do us, there’s not one good striker in the league.

Boro, Briz and whoever ever else is up there will fade. S’oton are wank, Ipswich are worse. We can have this. We’re poor, but this league is absolutely honking. 82pts will go up.

The last 2 games,  surprisingly his defensive work has been really good.  He definitely feels the best option we have in this moment.

he can obviously score goals…somewhere deep down in him that ability exists…. But I just don’t know if we will ever get to see it.

remember when Hirst went on loan a few times and was dog muck but then on one of the loans (maybe Portsmouth) the manager just kept playing him, gave him a run of games ignored the fact he couldn’t score and then one day he popped one in and didn’t stop. Theres a best case scenario, where daka finds a goal and hits a run like that. Footballs an odd sport and it’s rarely as simple as someone’s shit or they’re not.

Yeah I am not sure why hes getting a lot of positive feedback, for me he isnt good enough, and is poor at holding the ball up.  Ayew seems to be much more useful but gets criticised every time he plays.  I am either missing something obvious or its the old FT praise our favourites, bash our scapegoat.  However the effort is there, which is something and we dont have an obvious number 9 at the moment anyway.

Fully agree on the saving vs kicking thing,  The majority have brought into the play out the back mentality and forgotten the basics of the game.

Has anyone actually said they think he's decent? There is a difference between thinking he's a good player and thinking that when you look at who the alternatives are, the team is probably better off overall with him in it, which is what people are actually saying.

Ok now I am thinking I understand now, so basically the team plays better as a unit with Daka on the pitch vs the alternatives, I can accept that, especially after a 3-1 win.  Also I did like his sprint forward to try and get that crossbar rebound.
