Norwich have smashed it out of the park

Football kit design is so easy yet it gets over complicated 9 times out of 10.

This in blue and white with our proper badge would make me buy a full price shirt for the first time in about a decade.

It reminds me a bit of our white kit we had for the champions league. Agree though, the simpler the better

By tidy up I definitely don't mean a redesign, I agree the style/layout/simplicity of our badge is spot on. Norwich haven't changed theirs much really, they have just cleaned up the lines and it has a big impact.

Don't get me wrong, I'm probably being a tit and looking very closely at it but our badge was definitely last done by someone who is sh*t at using design software. Some messy symmetry mistakes in the way they have created/copied the fox. A lot of football badges have the same issue when they've tried to digitalise a badge for the first time. Dunno, maybe people think it adds to the charm.

Have to disagree on it being a software proficiency thing brother - I don't think it's been created / subsequently modified with complete symmetry in mind (almost looks like theres a light source on the left) and, given the illustration style, I think it's all the better for it.

Anyone gagging for Hummel needs to have a look at that Southampton kit lol

Last season's Soton kit had a dreadful collar too, can't decide if it wants to be a v-neck or crew neck and ended up looking like they're wearing an ascot or a Spaghetti Western cowboy bandana southampton_2020_2021_home_kit.jpg

Just add a cowboy hat to complete the look...

General consensus is the colours are the wrong way round on that Saints kit, which I'd probably agree with. Plymouth is excellent.

Ahhh yeah, that was the way round they had it in the 80s I think?

Still rate it personally but you're probably right.

Fair enough! Like you say, maybe it is better for it.

Personally, I'm 99% sure they have taken an image/drawing of it into Adobe Illustrator and used the auto image trace tool to vectorise it automatically, rather than spending the time to actually create the shape again.

Southampton and Plymouth. Lucky South Coast bastards.

Not keen on the Soton shirt. The spider Web thing not great. As I mentioned a lot of modern kits are over designed. I get the idea of being different but clean unfussy and classic best. The Argyle shirt is okish.

I'm not sure it's been entirely live traced tbh, there are completely different shapes and line thicknesses appearing that aren't consistent with a blanket live trace jobby

You know you can save the picture instead of screenshotting so that it doesn’t look like the pictures been taken using a cheese grater?

To be fair you can't 'copy image address' or save from Footyheadlines anymore. And when i try and screenclip and upload the ridiculous image size limit on here means you can't upload anything lol

What that agency have done with Norwich is great because it doesn't look like the brain child of some design by committee bollocks. Our badge doesn't need cleaning up whatsoever though, it's contemporary while it has character too. Would hate for us to have one of those naff homogeneous roundel badges I fear we'd wind up with if we changed ours.

The new one is a bit bland, but that older badge is pretty poor too. I wouldn't say it's a downgrade, at least.

Feels like it could've incorporated more elements from the 2 clubs that merged into SM, but the previous version looks off to me for the opposite reason. Busy and cluttered and an awful colour palette.

Yeah the old one looks like it’s been done in MS Paint, but they could’ve easily modernised in the way that Norwich have with theirs.
