Should we now fully concentrate on this? We aren’t going to get relegated and we aren’t going to get top 6. 3 games away from another trophy I think this should be our main focus now.

If we don't fully concentrate on it, we'll get slaughtered. Forget that, we'll probably get slaughtered whatever

What about FA Cup?

We're not a million miles away from top 6 when it comes to points. It's hardly panic stations to only focus on League Cup.

We’re not a million miles away points-wise but crucially Arsenal, Spurs and Man United have finally got their shit together to some extent. To get in the top 6 we’ve got to finish above one of them and West Ham who have an 8 point head start and frankly look like a much better side than us. And we’ve got to hope that we outperform all of the  other sides who’ll want to challenge for the top 6 - Wolves, Brighton, Everton, Villa.

Its not happening under this regime. Only chance of a top 6 finish is a hard reset and hope we can ride a new manager wave long enough to get in there.

Focussing on the cups has to be the way forward. As bad as we’ve been I am very confident we won’t go down. I will be much unhappier if we go out of the League Cup to Liverpool reserves than if we lose on Sunday.

That's if Liverpool play their reserves...

But I take your point about the other sides. They are and are currently better than us performance wise.

We should have the capability to focus on at least 1 of the cups and improve the league position. I don't like just focusing on the cup because you never know what might happen. We could focus on them but still lose on the night? And definitely not sacrifice a league campaign for a cup - I doubt the club will want that.

🤔..it will be a huge success if we can overcome Liverpool reserves in a crap domestic cup competition!!

Unfortunately I don't think the concept of "fully concentrating" has any relevance to the side at the moment. Yes we've been unlucky with injuries and will hopefully get a few players back soon but we currently have too many playing well below par and a manager who seemingly can't coach or motivate them.

We could go for the cups but as soon as we come up against anyone even remotely decent we will get hammered.

So for me, concentrate on getting to 40 points, as that's the one that will absolutely kill us if we don't achieve it.

Way we are going we are in a relegation fight. You won't win lots of matches when you're third highest goals conceded in premier league.

We need to score 4 a game just to be within a chance of winning a match currently.

Winning this would be massive and put us in a great position to not only win some silverware but qualify for Europe with a chunk of the season still to play.

As others have said though I don't think we're at a liberty to prioritise anything. Need to get back to the basics of football first and foremost. Sunday league stuff at times!

We should now be cup hunting to retain and/or secure a European place for next season. However since each league position is worth a million quid or whatever, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't. But as I've said a million times European teams have deeper squads due to playing extra games so don't surprised if we lose a few players if we miss out on Europe next season.

If as suspected, Liverpool will put out a reserve team, we should go for this.

With Man City out, it’s wide open and gives us the chance to win all 3 trophies within a few seasons - quite an amazing achievement.

It is also a route back to Europe, right now our best opportunity to get back into Europe again is either winning this or winning the Europa Conference.

As poor as we have been, we are not in a relegation battle and come May will be nowhere near the bottom 3. Let’s play to win ever cup game.

Concentrate on EACH game...simples!

Cup games are notoriously unpredictable, and we shouldn't be putting all our eggs in ANY one basket.

Sounds cliche, but best to concentrate on the NEXT game and the team in front of you - and let's see what that leads to!

Our defence ranks 20th out of 20 teams in the premier league over the last month or so. The chances of us getting top 6 are very close to zero unless we suddenly revert to the form of ~15 months ago and maintain it for the rest of the season. I don’t think we will be relegated, but a bottom half finish is looking the most likely outcome.

We ain’t winning any trophies. Get real. And all those saying we won’t get relegated, we probably won’t, but it’s that level of complacency that sees odd things happen. Currently we are at a level just below shite.

I’m super, super happy to correct you: all 4 trophies!
