How can you be looking to pick up a player who is creating a injury list as long as his arm. 2
urban.spaceman Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 Doubt he'd pass the medical to be honest. 1
MalletFox Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 It’s unfortunate, but with Ricky’s injuries this wouldn’t be the worst bit of business we could do especially if we can pick up a half decent fee. He’s been superb in the main for us and what an incredible step up on Danny Simpson in our football evolution to competent ball playing and attacking full backs! Maybe a warmer climate would help with his injuries too? Couldn’t be much worse, could it?
Buzzell Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 I love Ricky. He’s such a top player but injury’s are becoming a bit of a problem for him. I’d love him to stay but I wouldn’t be surprised if he moved abroad, if the right offer came in for him. 1

Our defenders could do worse than study Danny’s ability to sense and deal with opposition threats at the back post 7
Popular Post Gerard Posted 2 January 2022 Popular Post Posted 2 January 2022 At his best he was the best FB in the club's history, certainly the best one I've ever seen. Don't believe Atletico would be interested for a second but unfortunately he's a sell if we had a half decent offer. 5
Fursan Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 Last injury was a leg breaker pure unlucky and screw Morton 1
Popular Post jmono84 Posted 2 January 2022 Popular Post Posted 2 January 2022 We won’t get good value for him if we sold now and I think he’s missed his chance to go to a bigger club because how’s unfortunate his last two injuries have been. I say give him a new deal and get him back to fitness so he can spend his peak years with us when he gets back to fitness. He can’t be that unlucky to be injured the following seasons surely! 7 1
CloudFox Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 I doubt it considering he's injured, but interesting that he's being mentioned there at all. I get why some people think we should sell him if we get a good offer, but I really want him to come back fully fit so we can enjoy him tearing it up again, even just for a little longer. On his day he doesn't just run up and down the right-hand side - he rampages.

And the sad fact is that there hasn't been one game since the ACL injury when he's played at his old level. 1
GingerrrFox Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 Injuries have ruined him unfortunately in English football, he would be much better off in Spain at this point in his career with the slower pace of the game. Probably the most talented right back we’ve ever had but with Castagne and JJ plus Albrighton being able to cover there too we are fine at the position.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 I love him but he's not going to get back to his pre injury levels. Doubt that's a credible link for that exact reason tbh. 1
jim5000 Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 I don't think we could replace him with a better rightback. I think assume he won't play again this season, get him fit for the start of next season and pray that basically best part of two seasons out he hasn't lost his magic.

With the other 4 full backs we have we might not need to. Thomas, Castagne and Justin..then Bertrand if needed. Just need to avoid injuries and I don't think he would need to be replaced as much as I rate Ricardo.

Depends what you mean by better, we cannot just fondly remember his high points, availability needs to be a part of any measure of better too 1
coolhandfox Posted 2 January 2022 Posted 2 January 2022 Don't think there is much in this. No change anyone is paying a fee we would accept with his recent injury record I think he will wind down he's contract with by the end of 2023 he will be nearly 30 and make his way back to Primera Liga.

I'm not blaming him at all but since his injury, how many games has he actually played? Sorry I'm too lazy to look it up! Also he's not been playing anywhere near the same level as he was pre-injury. If we had a right back 80% as good as he was before he got injured but was actually available to play 100% of the time we've probably got a better right back at this moment in time. Before his injury 70 in all comps, since 28. His also been an unused sub 12 times since returning from his ACL.

Thanks. That's a big difference. Though not unexpected. I wonder how many more games he will play this season even?
