Was Thomas just a tight calf or out definitely?

Neither Rodgers or the media actually said what was wrong with Thomas, believe it was someone on here that said it is actually a tight hamstring or calf or something like that

Premier League Rules and factors taken into account by the Board

Premier League rules provide a framework and discretion to the Board to assess whether a postponement application should be accepted.

As the guidance shows, the Board will consider the following principal factors when making a decision:

1) The impact of COVID-19 infections on a club’s squad, as well as injuries, illness and those isolating, and the number of players available on the squad list and any Under-21 players with appropriate experience. Where a club cannot field 13 outfield players and a goalkeeper either from its squad list or its appropriately experienced Under-21 players, the match will be postponed.
2) The status of any COVID-19 outbreak within a club, including the number of individuals affected, the sequence and source of infections and their proximity to the match in question.
3) A club’s ability to safely prepare its players in the lead-up to a match.
4) Medical advice as to whether there is any unacceptable risk to the health and safety of players and staff by playing the match.
5) Any advice from UK Health Security Agency and other public bodies.
6) Any other exceptional circumstances.

The Board has applied these factors in recent postponements, with examples including:

- Where a club has been unable to field 13 outfield players and a goalkeeper for a match due to COVID-19 infections, injuries, illness and/or those isolating.

Seems pretty clear to me. We won't be playing Tuesday. @st albans fox

How many of our youngster's count as experienced Under - 21's?

So far, unless anything changes, We're on 8 or 9 fit outfielders

But it’s the appropriately experienced u21s that might get us. Ours have just played a blinder in the match today.

"If fewer than that are available, ‘appropriately experienced Under 21s’ must be used to reach that number. Any Under 21 player who has started a first-team match in the current or preceding season will be eligible."

As @moore_94 says, this weekend's FA Cup games don't count, so I guess only Thomas and Fofana are our appropriately experienced U-21s, unless I'm forgetting someone. I think of them both as senior players, anyway. VDC, maybe?

Todays FA Cup game doesn't count towards them being appropriately experienced

Do we think they mean in ANY first team game or league only?

I believe VDC might be the only player who counts if they are including cups as he started against Brighton last season in the FA Cup 5th round and also against Brighton in the Carabao Cup this season

Tavares started against Brighton in the league but is now gone

None of McAteer, Brunt, or Alves from today count

Really not sure. Would seem odd to count the cups, as severely weakened teams are pretty common.

I did read that this weekend's FA Cup games won't count, but I don't know if they mean any FA Cup games from this season or last, as well.

At most then it is still only going to be VDC who would count towards it which still wouldn't be enough

It's weird but we seem much more confident these days with 98% of our first team crocked! So long as we score more than 4 to cancel out the inevitable Gray hatrick I say play it.

Less players and options so Rodgers has stopped over complicating things and of course no pillocking about with 5 at the back (for the most part)

A full week of recovery/training between the matches will reduce the risk of picking up further injuries while having no/limited ability to rotate players. Can the likes of Barnes play 4 games in the next 14 games after just returning from injury?

Let's be honest, it doesn't matter when we play, we always have injury problems. Yes players will start coming back over the next few weeks but no doubt more will fall again. Has been like that ever since Rodgers got going.

It's a tricky one. We already have 2 more games to rearrange, we have another FA Cup game, we have European games. We could end up with 6 games in 15 days in May if we are not careful. Just use the squad, if it means playing youngsterd to rotate, so be it. Gives them much needed experience.

If we get this postponed I personally would be fuming as an Everton fan. We have just played at the weekend and won. Surely the Premier League will jog us on quick time if we request it.  Admittedly we only had kids on the bench but we still played with a competitive side. I’d be amazed if we are successful trying to get it called off.

This has been explained above. The fact that we were able to pack the team out with academy players yesterday will have no bearing on the decision on the Everton game. It comes down to the number of senior players available - and we have very few of those.

Yes I am aware of the rules but I can only begin to imagine the melt down on here if for example we were due to play United midweek in reverse circumstances. We are nearly at full strength but United have loads of injuries. They have just beaten another prem team in the cup but want our game called off again after previously calling it off. We on the other hand are strong in comparison and are keen to play it. I’m sure the response would be balanced and saying fair enough it’s only fair it’s called off! 😂😂

The board would be in absolute melt down about the big 6 bias, it should be played etc etc.

If we get this called off it will not look good to the neutral and to be honest I can see their point.

But it isn’t about how Everton fans would feel about it, nor about how it would look to the neutral. There are actual rules governing whether a game can be postponed, and given our lack of senior players available it looks very much like it will be postponed if we request it.

Who gives a shite what Everton fans think, they can moan to the EPL for scheduling fixtures back in while squads are still heavily impacted by covid and resulting injuries of playing with depleted squads.. We have 8 senior players fit, some of which have just returned from injury/Covid and those 8 players won't be able to play 3 games in a week + another 2 next week. Are we expecting the kids brought in yesterday to play 3 games in a week as well?
