This will be on. We'll play with a barebone team/squad.

If this is off, then so will Burnley. And Spurs would be doubtful. We have to play these games at some point, just get it over with.

A full week of recovery/training between the matches will reduce the risk of picking up further injuries while having no/limited ability to rotate players. Can the likes of Barnes play 4 games in the next 14 games after just returning from injury?

The fact they've even scheduled this game this week is the problem. Twats.

If they don't postpone our game then that should be the end of any postponements. Surely noone is worse off than we are.

It’s covid mate , not injuries

we may be able to make an argument but the fact we originally called it off and it’s a sky game won’t help our case.

Agree, our season is done already with all the injuries we have had/are having. Just play the games give some of the younguns another run out. Not arsed to keep re-arranging

It's weird but we seem much more confident these days with 98% of our first team crocked! So long as we score more than 4 to cancel out the inevitable Gray hatrick I say play it.

When Hull City scored early today the commentator was saying that Everton have been dreadful at defending set pieces all season.

What with our ability in that department - this really could be a race to the bottom!

Only 8 senior players available?

Nowhere near a chance this goes ahead if that's still the case. Not even close to the accepted protocol/threshold.

all these postponed games gotta be played sometime. that to me just suggests we risk breaking a load of players during a condensed schedule. I'd almost rather lose a couple of games like this one !?

Are you sure it's just Covid?

I wouldn’t understand why they would change the rules for injuries

you’ve been able to request a postponement for injuries in the past but I’m not aware of any that have been granted

the new covid rule was brought in December of 14 first team squad players required

I cannot see how we could justify requesting this being called off unless we have covid case(s) - the precedent last year was Southampton at old Trafford with nine fit first team players (they lost 9-0). They requested a postponement.

if we have someone isolating because they’ve been a close contact and aren’t jabbed, then I suspect we won’t get much sympathy from the PL. perhaps this is where we currently are and the club are waiting until tomorrow to see if anyone actually contacts covid which would make the request a simpler one.

Below is the new guidelines for postponing games at the moment

https://www.premierleague.com/news/2426753

Premier League Rules and factors taken into account by the Board

Premier League rules provide a framework and discretion to the Board to assess whether a postponement application should be accepted.

As the guidance shows, the Board will consider the following principal factors when making a decision:

1) The impact of COVID-19 infections on a club’s squad, as well as injuries, illness and those isolating, and the number of players available on the squad list and any Under-21 players with appropriate experience. Where a club cannot field 13 outfield players and a goalkeeper either from its squad list or its appropriately experienced Under-21 players, the match will be postponed.

2) The status of any COVID-19 outbreak within a club, including the number of individuals affected, the sequence and source of infections and their proximity to the match in question.

3) A club’s ability to safely prepare its players in the lead-up to a match.

4) Medical advice as to whether there is any unacceptable risk to the health and safety of players and staff by playing the match.

5) Any advice from UK Health Security Agency and other public bodies.

6) Any other exceptional circumstances.

It’s very open to interpretation

The Board has applied these factors in recent postponements, with examples including:

- Where a club has been unable to field 13 outfield players and a goalkeeper for a match due to COVID-19 infections, injuries, illness and/or those isolating.

So far, unless anything changes, We're on 8 or 9 fit outfielders

Maybe they changed the rules because of the increased number of absentees due to Covid, but that doesn't mean that only absentees due to Covid count.

I don't think it makes any difference whether a player has Covid or a broken leg.

Yeah so it is the 8 today

Then possibly Castagne

Soumare is illness so may be back?

KDH was described as a major doubt for todays so might be back?

Not going to be anymore than 10 by the Everton game I expect

Was Thomas just a tight calf or out definitely?
