With the league season looking like a write-off, and European football out of reach, have we reached the end of our contesting the big 6 phase or do you think we can go again next season?

We are half way through the season, still in European competition and the FA Cup.

I just can’t see the league as a write off this early, we also have 2 other routes back into Europe.

This is the question. I think we need a bit of an overhaul and I’m not sure I trust Rodgers to over see it.

It would be interesting to see how we do when/if everyone is fit. Not sure we ever will under Rodgers

With Evans,Vardy and Kasper reaching their mid-thirties , we may still be in transition and Youri's departure is almost certain so it won't be easy but we are will good enough for a top six challenge.

Amazing but not entirely unexpected this question would arise. I'm as pissed off as anyone about last nights farcical ending but a win on Sunday and we'll be off and running again. JJ is back and so might be Big Dan. We have some big matches coming up and we shouldn't be writing off anything. I'm up for it.

Piss off with this crap, it’s been forward steps every single season he’s been here. A little bit of adversity and some of you melts lose all sense of reality.

Don’t agree. This season hasn’t been a forward step albeit that there have been significant mitigating circumstances. We have become more and more negative with the ball but hopefully that will improve with the return of the likes of Justin, Fofana and Ricky P. The one thing I can’t rationalise is how many goals we have scored notwithstanding the extent that we play backwards and sideways . We really can be very good on the front foot and I wonder if we didn’t fanny around with the ball so much at the back whether we might be doing a Kevin Keegan Newcastle and winning games 5-4 or 4-3 rather than losing them due to our porous defence.

Bring Pearson back as joint manager with Brendan then we have best of both worlds. I wonder why no club has had joint managers before? Could be on to something.

We are at a cross roads with Brendan .  This season has exposed his weakness , he’s not learning .  One step forward 2 steps back .  I trust whatever the club do .

...I  am sure that had been picked up long before!!!

Pearson was great but not sure he'd be suited to where we are now. Would love to see him do a Dyche, though and get another club promoted then stick with them.

Also - can you imagine the headache of a club sacking TWO managers? And who gets the blame?

.. even Clough and Taylor  fell out!!!

Someone has to have the last say, two people with strong personalities are not going to work well  together.  Pearson deferring to Rodgers is not something that I can see. Now Shakespeare coming in as a no.2 would make a lot more  sense.

Maybe we could have a trio Rodgers Pearson and Shakespeare?

No manager.

They can just come on here before every game, and be given the lineup and strategies.

Then check back at halftime for any adjustment s that might be needed.

smh

I think we are approaching a crossroads

we can keep going if we can keep the players but if ultimately the football world concludes we’re perennial nearly men, the best players will leave and they’ll be harder to replace…if we’d got CL last season and were pushing for it again would Youri be planning to leave?
if he goes won’t Maddison, NDidi, Castagne, Forfana decide it might be time for them to go too? This is why the PL finishing place last season and the Europa fiasco this season are really damaging. We haven’t demonstrated we are a club which belongs at or near the top..

the fact is we are miles behind Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool and Utd, Arse and Sperz will be tougher to compete with - both on the pitch and in the transfer market from now on. West Ham have overtaken us and Newcastle and Villa will be a different prospect in the months and years to come, All of which means we need to improve more quickly just to stand still …

plus of course BR’s occasional admission  that we can’t compete with the top six merely confirms that we are nothing more than a great club prior to a top six move.
