They knew he would be sought after, so put 150 million pound price tag on his head. Guess what, every other Club know that he is unattainable this summer, and so West Ham have not had to deal with all the speculation, and clubs making ridiculous bids, while potentially unsettling Rice. It is what we should have done with Fofana. Make it known he wouldn't be sold for less than 125 million. Don’t necessarily disagree but…. 1. He will only have 1 year left on his contract next summer so risk losing him for a cut priced deal. 2. If we act too tough the other best young prospects wouldn’t want to join us if they think we will price them out of future moves. That’s why we have to get the balance almost spot on in order to make a profit and keep the cycle going, whilst remaining competitive. But also not putting future stars off from joining us because they think we will price them out of future moves. Edit to say just noticed it looks like WHam have an option for an extra year. But obviously won’t be able to achieve as big a fee next summer. Edited 2 August 2022 by Foxes96 1

Then selling clubs know we have a large wad of cash when we go for their players. 50m profit (minus maybe 5m sell on) is pretty good business for a player than has made 35 appearances for us. People said the same after Maguire went about buying a replacement...

ronnup Posted 2 August 2022 Posted 2 August 2022 (edited) If we can use the money then fine, but its a big concern that we'd end up with Bednarek and some other shite Edited 2 August 2022 by ronnup 1

Reuben Dias , who is at this moment in time , a better player than Fofana cost £68 million. In my opinion, Fofana now at only 21 is at a better standard than what Virgil was when he joined Liverpool as a 27 year old back in 2018 for £75m. What a players value is, is not set in stone and it is decided by what the selling club feels is an acceptable amount to let that player go. 1

Most people in the game know he's a really special talent that don't come round very often. That tackle on Sunday v Seville was a tackle that very few could do or even attempts through fear of giving away a penalty. He really is a player that we won't have on our books very often, if at all. If those smug baskets want him, then make them pay a proper fee as he's worth loads to us. darko2k7 Posted 2 August 2022 Posted 2 August 2022 Not sure where all the talk of him removing all references to us comes from , his twitter banner picture is still us ,his profile pic his him in a leicester shirt , he is posting about his takle in the last game and it main pinned tweet is him thanking all the leicester fans for all the support we gave him during his injury 1

He is an ambitious kid , we already knew that. However if the club are prepared to weaken the team for a quick profit that will scream lack of progression. The stadium expansion has ground to a halt and that will not all be down to a bone- headed planning committee. The owners have gone full risk- averse which suggests finance worries way above Leicester City.. They are not oil barons or commodity traders, they are a commercial company and they have taken a hell of a kicking lately. We can still sell for a premium next year if he is keen to move on. We should tell the lad it’s too late in the window to accept a bid now, but if he knuckles down and an acceptable bid comes in next summer we won’t stand in his way. We don’t trade unless the deal is right for us. To replace Wes we probably need a couple of additions to strengthen the defence. it’s the same with Madders, realistically you are looking at strengthening the attack overall rather than a like for like marquee name. coolhandfox Posted 2 August 2022 Posted 2 August 2022 Rice would have signed a new contract at West Ham if he was a stayer. He could double, triple his money if he did.
Claridge Posted 2 August 2022 Posted 2 August 2022 He i 10x better than Maguire, so 800 million or …. Off

Le Renard Posted 2 August 2022 Posted 2 August 2022 (edited) I want Fofana to stay, but If he wants to go and he throws his toys out of the pram, then the club don't have a choice, unless they want to keep a unhappy player. Life is too short to worry about it, life continues and so will our club. Edited 2 August 2022 by Le Renard
Popular Post SecretPro Posted 2 August 2022 Popular Post Posted 2 August 2022 It comes down to this: The old heads on here say we don't have financial problems, we just need deadwood shifting and wages sacking off. So, we don't NEED to take any less than £100m for Fofana, in fact, taking anything for Fofana will weaken us (losing him destroyed our season last year) What we do NEED is to stop fooking about turning down offers for shit like Vesty because of a couple of measley million. 7
