Reports this am that Chelsea have bid 75 mill…

Well our response to that bid, if true of course, should be a thanks but no thanks. Come back when your serious about making a proper offer.

Not good enough but if that's the case and it actually happened he's off and it's a great deal for the club.

Presumably that would mean they will go to £85m ?

Similar to Mahrez really, we know he's world class... If he wants to leave then we'll need his value matching, £85m+ would be a great deal for the club.

If we sell him now in our current situation it's frankly daft. We'll get 70 odd before bonuses, probably have to spend at least 30 odd replacing him and then still not be able to buy players because we still have too many senior squad members.

So why weaken?

Weaken CB by 10%, but strengthen RW by 30% and get another or prospect, are we weaker overall?  :dunno:

Who would be a club owner!?

None of us should be surprised by Fofana's antics. He treated the club that gave him his first big break just the same when we signed him.  We were always just a stepping stone for him. We're kidding ourselves if we believe that most footballers have a strong love or even affinity for the club they play for. It's a job for them and they want to get the most money they can. If that means a chance to move to a bigger club pretty much all of them would jump at the chance, irrespective of the support that their current club and its fans have given them. Some of them try to hide the fact; Fofana is one who doesn't bother even doing that.

His actions are disrespectful, just as they were with St Ettiene, and you are absolutely right, he was always going to do the same to us as he did with St Ettiene.  What ever he does though, the club hold all the cards. He has just signed a contract until 2027, we don't have to sell and shouldn't sell until we get an offer that we are happy with. He can go and pitch a tent outside Stamford Bridge, but while he is under contract to us, he can't play for anyone else. If he don't like it he shouldn't have signed a new contract. Chelsea seem desperate, and we should screw them for every penny we can, and 75 million is not enough.

Thats a crap argument, because it would imply if someone offered 1 billion, we still need to make space (Although the sell on fee to St Etienne would be moot I confess)

Or sit at East Midlands airport like some other mardy b*****d did.

Brendan recommended Fofana? Did he?

Do you really think with the squad we had at those times compared with what other teams had 'at those times', Rodgers was really the mastermind behind it? I'd suggest quite a few managers could have easily equalled it and several nailed 4th. I think the team got there despite him. Just my personal thoughts but I'm very biased, I think he's an absolute fraud. Only time will tell. Let's see what he achieves after us eh?

Who? Aside from the obvious choices of Pep and Klopp, which managers would have equalled/nailed 4th?

If it was that easy then West Ham would have finished 4th last season. Why is that in the last 10 years only us and Spurs have managed to break the top 4? And we only did it for one season. It's not as easy as people like you think. But Rodgers got us into that position in the first place.

You've aimed "absolute fraud" at the manager that won this club it's first ever FA Cup. Talk about disrespectful.

Pretty sure that will be the case if we sell  :dunno:

If we try to buy to replace him we will be screwed. There is no way Colwill goes for £20 million for instance. The chances are we will be a CB short this season. However that could give Brunt a chance to step up. Soyuncu definitely stays.

He'll probably do the same to Chelsea next year when PSG & Barca come calling

Hopefully Colwill with come in a swap (with no buy back)

We're fvcked if he goes. Not that I think he's that good we're somesort of one man team but to lose a good defender and number 1 goalkeeper in the same window, and at this stage of the window. I pray Maddison and Vardy don't get injured.

We need to try and get a player back from Chelsea in this deal at the very least. £70m plus player.

Its the knock on effect too for me as Kasper is already going. If Fofana goes in this window, Maddison will want out in the next window at the latest with our other decent players contemplating it next summer if we dont replace.

Fofana had 2 sublime moments in preseason last week...he's worth 10 points to us this season in my opinion and I trust he will give his best if we don't sell..if Chelsea want him ..£90 million...

Frankly I'm not surprised these top players want to leave. We're repeatedly played down by our own manager and a large portion of the fan base. We can't hold on to champions league quality players and be happy to finish midtable

This is exactly it.  We will continue to lose our best players if we continue to do well.  We always have and we always will.  Mr Vardy might well be the only exception ever.

He won’t go. I’m pretty sure Brendan has made it clear that he isn’t for sale.

Selling Fofana isn’t going to improve our current position. We’ve proven if we don’t want someone to go. We’re hard to shift. It’s tough tits If he fancies a move, he’s under contract here and it ends there. If the club don’t want to sell him, they won’t.

I might be biased but if he stays with us just once more season or even until Janauary and has blistering performances he could go to a club a level above Chelsea for £100m.

We'd take it, the player would be at a better club than Chelsea so would be happy and the buying club would be happy.

Exactly. We've form for this and basically telling a player that they will have to wait.

He ain't going anywhere, whether he likes it (or more likely) not.
