The underlying stats on this guy defensively are absolutely nuts, he was WhoScored's best CB in the top 5 leagues last year. He's very heavily right footed though, so dunno how we'd line up with him. His passing is also really, really below average for a CB - but little Wes has us covered in the ball playing CB department moving forward.

It would be a very very good deal at that price and with him coming in on loan and then buying in the summer. I just dont believe The Sun unfortunately

Nixon did get a few things right on us a while back but last summer whatever he wrote never transpired with us.

Have we not left this one a bit late to get through with only a day to go? Would he get the relevant paperwork in time etc? That’s if there’s anything in it which I doubt there is.

Those passing stats on fbref surely can't be real? I've seen that website throw up some odd stats that are evidently wrong, hopefully that's the case here.

Seems like it might be real having looked on WhoScored and Squawka to compare if they get the same

 

Seems like the centre backs role at Metz is just get rid, as they all come out quite similar, very Huth and Morgan-esque I guess

For those asking why we left it so late, there are other things buying clubs have to navigate, for example the selling club not wanting to sell until they have a replacement or making sure they have enough cover, which they'll leave until as close to deadline day. 

 

The player being away till recently at the AFCON might have delayed things as well. 

 

Don't know anything about him before this link but based on the stats, he fits the type profile of player we need.

 

Hope a deal can get done on this, especially if it's a loan.

Reminds me a bit of Wilf with the way he manages to stick his leg in the right places. A combo of him and Wes at the back might work quite well with one more of a last man and the other winning it back high and progressing the play.

 

No real evidence of passing ability in that video, but that doesn't mean he can't - just might not be the way Metz play. He seems to keep pace with the forwards well anyway, and I'd be more concerned about pace at the back than great passing ability given the high line we play. That's where we went wrong with Vestergaard.

Honestly don’t know about about him, but judging off the YouTube videos and AFCON he looks just what we need. He can give the ball to more creative players and just concentrate on defending. We’ve missed a proper defender in the team for a long time while. Get it done.

The 1.00 is how many he does per 90, the 2 is what percentile he is in compared to other centre backs for that action

Progressive passes are:

 

“Completed passes that move the ball towards the opponent's goal at least 10 yards from its furthest point in the last six passes, or any completed pass into the penalty area. Excludes passes from the defending 40% of the pitch”
