He can captain Turkey but he can’t get in a Leicester City starting 11 despite being desperate for CB’s.

Forget the starting 11 he struggles to be picked to keep the bench warm

He played pretty poorly unfortunately 😅And they conceded 3 goals to Luxembourg…. Only managing a draw.

I watched the game. Luxembourg were surprisingly good. Can't recall him being at fault for any of the goals.

Turkey have been awful and continue to be so. Whole team is in decline. Not sure what has happened to them. It hasn’t helped Cags in general.

I’ll Tune In to see how he performs.

Chelsea ‘start negotiations’ for second Leicester City player after Wesley Fofana transfer
Leicester City transfer news with Chelsea said to be one of three teams showing an interest in City centre-back ahead of January window.

Chelsea are one of three clubs to show an interest in Leicester City's out of favour defender Caglar Soyuncu, according to reports in Turkey.

The City centre-back has dropped down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium this season. His one appearance came in the Carabao Cup penalty shootout win over League Two Stockport County back in August. Brendan Rodgers has opted to play Daniel Amartey and Wilfred Ndidi at centre-back ahead of Soyuncu in the Premier League.

Soyuncu has less than a year remaining on his City contract, leading to speculation over his future ahead of the January transfer window. Latest reports claim Italian giants Inter Milan are lining Soyuncu up as a replacement for Milan Skriniar.

But it now seems they are not the only club interested in the player. According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu , Chelsea and Villarreal are two other clubs who are making a move for the City man.

Writing on Twitter, the journalist claims all three clubs have ‘started negotiations to add Soyuncu to their squad.’

Should Chelsea’s interest be genuine, it will be the latest of a number of deals that have seen City players head for Stamford Bridge. In the summer window, the Blues paid City £70m for centre-back Wesley Fofana after a lengthy transfer saga.

N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Ben Chilwell are the other players to make the move south over the last few seasons, the transfers reaping a combined £187m for City in fees.

With Soyuncu having just six months remaining on his contract come January, City may not get a big fee for the player should he be sold. The defender would also be able to negotiate a contract with an overseas club for the summer when the window opens.

Speaking about Soyuncu earlier this month, City boss Rodgers believed the centre-back would get a chance to stake his claim for a place in the team. He explained: “It was a mixture of things - the national team wasn’t going so well and he had some injuries, and then he played so much because he was one of my only fit centre-halves. It was really difficult for him.

“But he has never been a problem. He is a great guy, works hard and when the opportunity comes, which I am pretty sure it will do at some point, he knows he has to be ready.”

I have even less of a clue what's going on with Soyuncu now, after reading these positive comments about him from Rodgers.

I'm sure I read other comments from BR saying that the reason he hadn't been selected for PL for months was because his performances in training were sub-standard?

I think it was justified when he was dropped last season. His performances had been poor and it was bad when he pulled out of that 50-50 tackle (even if the MOTD hatchet job perhaps made it a bigger issue than it should've been).

But if he's "never been a problem", "is a great guy" and "works hard".....you'd think that the opportunity Rodgers expects him to take might have occurred before now, as our defence has been shipping goals. Yet BR has been resorting to Ndidi and Amartey at CB ahead of him. While Cags has his flaws (perhaps handling stress, in particular), we know that he has performed to a consistently high standard at CB for extended periods in the past. :dunno:

I assume he's LESS likely to get an opportunity now that Faes has been signed - unless he flops (and he looked good at Spurs, I thought) or we have injuries.

If Rodgers doesn't think it worth giving him an opportunity in the next 2 months and Chelsea do offer a small fee for him in January, we should probably take it....but then what happened to the gossip about him going to Atletico on a free next summer? Of course, both stories may be media bollocks - or Rodgers' comments may be bullshit.... :D

I can't help remembering the lap of honour on the last day of last season, when Soyuncu seemed to walk the lap on his own looking gloomy. At that point, I assumed he'd be leaving before this season....

What the hell is going on behind the scenes  at lcfc? If we weren’t in this particularly dire situation fans would’ve raise an eyebrow what reason Rogers would bench a player but given our struggles he can’t hide the truth forever. If he’s BS us and the word gets out it’s a personal issue there will be hell to pay for. Cags has been benched for a real long time now. You’d think by now he would be fit and ready to form a partnership with Waes with evans in the middle. It’s really mentally exhausting following our club right now. Communication has been down right crap.

I wish there was a redemption story here, but its clearly not going to happen with Rogers about. Get him gone in Jan and get a replacement CB in. Evans needs to be a bit part player now.

Unfortunately the more results start to shift our way or if this "corner" has been turned now, it seems more and more likely that Cags time is up. I think we all know it is deep down, but there was always the glimmer of hope that if we did pull the trigger on BR, a new manager could galvanise him. The sad fact is, if we keep playing with the confidence we have now and the results keep trickling in, Rodgers will stay and Cags will be gone. No doubt to find form again somewhere else and we regret getting rid.

Hasn't shown a single bit of interest in signing a new deal during his entire time here, there hasn't even been a hint of it

As much as I would love for him to turn it around, come back in and form a partnership with Faes it is time to move him on and get someone in for the long term
