Didn't Taylor refuse to spend a certain amount on Eidur Gudjohnsen and pushed for Akinbiyi instead at a much higher price?

Think we were showing interest in Craig Bellamy at the time

I think we rejected Jason McAteer when Adams was here. He was set to join and then didn't, probably at 33 too young for that team.

I assume you mean Tom Lawrence - because you can't possibly be talking about Jamie. Hardly went on to become a 'top player' did he.

Gary Lineker and Alan Smith weren't 'rejected', they left to join Everton and Arsenal respectively.

Kramaric didn't really fit at the time, not sure what people keep seeing him in. He's certainly having a good goalscoring career in Germany though.

Lineker and Smith went on to have great careers, and are always listed among our greats ever, they don't count as "rejected".

Not a "Top player" but Des Lyttle was part of a particularly strong youth team with the likes of Paul Kitson and Richard Smith, didn't make it here but re-emerged at a (trying to force the word out) s-s-strong Forest side who got promotion then came third in the league with Collymore and Roy up front. Got there via Worcester (that's from a reliable source..) and Swansea, it was one of those double take moments....THE Des Lyttle? Fair play to him, well down, a lesson to all.

And there was an Oxford CB, Malcolm Shotton, the programme used to make a song and dance about him being ex City....i knew that fact would come in handy one day. Top player? Decent career though.

Has this ever been confirmed? I thought we had but have subsequently heard he was never with us.

On Instagram he follows alot of players that have come through our academy so i imagine he was here at some point.

I remember seeing references to Lewandowski being linked with us whilst he was playing in Poland. Likewise, link with a young Gylfi Siggurdson

I'm sure that Lewandowski almost went to Bolton, so that sounds plausible.

I think Kramaric was simply more of a goal poacher. Didn't do much else, from what I remember, which didn't suit our style.

Every club in the world looked at Lewandowski. We stood zero chance of actually getting him, he was also linked with far bigger clubs at the time.

It was Blackburn.

The move was called off when flights across Europe were cancelled due to that Icelandic volcano with an unpronounceable name.

Absolutely no chance we were linked, Blackburn were in the Premier League and we were shite.

I believe Brian Little turned down signing Davor Suker because he'd only seen videos of him.

at one point in 2009 Leicester might have had the real thing as they sought promotion from the Championship. This all transpired the season before he moved to Borussia Dortmund as he became top scorer in the Polish league, helping Lech Poznan to take the title. Leicester scouts apparently travelled to watch Lewandowski play with the man himself keen on a move to an English club to further his career. This possible transfer was given extra traction when it was revealed that only the volcanic ash cloud prevented Lewandowski from travelling to watch a Blackburn game against Everton and further discussing the transfer. So Leicester's attempt to sign him were not just a pipe dream and had they perhaps secured promotion to the Premier League that season, the Pole might have not been able to resist.

Robbie Keane:

The Irishman holds the record for most appearances and goals for his country and Leicester were willing to spend relatively big to secure his signing for their 2011 promotion push from the Championship. So close was this transfer that it was reported that he was only 48 hours away from completing the three million pound move to the 'Sven Revolution'. The reasons why it didn't go through are unclear but Leicester being after other strikers, being in the Championship and the lure of Los Angeles weather may well have something to do with it.
