If we finish 8th there will be more than a ‘modicum of respect’. We will be behind the ‘big 6’ who we can’t expect to live with on a regular basis and a very good West Ham side.

.. surprisingly, people still see us as little Leicester!!!

To finish 8th in this season, I  suspect that the other teams need to take a long hard look at themselves, as they  are obviously not using their money well.

You wonder how many clubs in the Championship and  below sees us as a small club.

We employed a process where we maximised our chances by scouting well and selling and making good profit. We may not have been the first to come up with the idea but we got it right. So right in fact we brought in quality players, such as Maddison from the Championship (who at the time was the leagues stand out player) who makes us a very competitive team in this league.

We have (for the most time)bought the right players at the right price and we sought to keep them, by offering very good contracts, which could well over burden or wage bill. It is how we have learnt to stay competitive in this league, but we are not little Leicester any more.

The only reason Rudgier gets away with it is because he doesn't really get close to Fofana. Ridiculous tackling technique.

On the same night, Lowton is the complete opposite (honest attempt, forward momentum takes him through) and gets a red.

That tackle by Rudiger needs punishing for the standard it sets, much more than anything else

It worries me actually. Our average age is 26.3 - its like he has no idea. He does of course.  But deflection is a great tool.

Is that average age of last nights 11?

It’s been an easy excuse used by him but I think last night he had a point.

Without Evans and Vardy it’s 13.

It's the 9th-youngest squad across the season on average. 26.3yrs.

Lowest being Arsenal at 24.3, but that's quite young compared to the next youngest - Brentford's 25.1.

Eldest average squad age is Burnley - 28.8.

It does say a lot about the league/us as a club. Where we’ve had an appalling season all things considered and we’re still likely to finish in a top half position. There’s no reason why we can’t aim for the top six next season.

There were 5 players in the starting line-up that were 25 or under last night - Maddison, Thomas, KDH, Fofana, Kelechi.

Add five to that with those on the bench - Hamza, Daka, Barnes, Lookman, Soyuncu,

So while I don't have an issue with him saying it's a young squad - there's still plenty of experience across the board to pull through in any given game - Kasper, Vardy, Evans, Albrighton, Ricardo, Castagne etc who are all over 25.

I'm using 25 as a barometer because to me that's young lol. Plus I think you'll still get players who are varying in experience, confidence, character etc. Some do have more experience than others of course.

To be honest, it's not something I'd continually get so hung up on. It's just a snippet from a post-match conference. Not worth getting so fussed over.

We have the players to do far better next season we should definitely be aiming for Top 5 finish maybe pushing for 4th place, finishing top half is a minimum expected target for the club. We have come a long way.

Take something about a "young squad", add a couple of buzzwords like "physicality" and "hunger" and you've got your stock Brendan answer.

No, its on average. Yesterday perhaps we did have some young ones. However, it wasnt like it was the kids out there. For every young-un there was an experienced head next to them. Evans, Kasper, Amartey and Castagne (exp) alongside Thomas and Fofana. Maddison and Mendy alongside KDH. Vardy and Kel - both experienced/mature.

We are an average aged squad which means our starting 11 at any time is average not necessarily youthful/inexperienced. Evans, Amartey, Castagne, Kasper, Mendy and Kel are seasoned international footballers. Vardy should and could've had significantly more caps and Fofana is a special breed of youngsters. KDH and Thomas - I can understand the comment.

I dont look at our squad and think youthful and its interesting to me that he does.

Wolves are hotly tipped to sack their manager for underperforming.

Good for them....another club who think the grass is greener....let's hope for their sake that they are not the next Stoke, QPR, Blackburn or West Brom

I guess with the general assumption that a players peak is 27-30, you can probably still get away with calling your squad young whilst you still sit below that.

Not excusing it, it annoys me he keeps peddling it, especially if we go and sign another 5 youngsters in the summer!

The squad isn't young at all, he's talking bollocks, as usual.

I think a point away at Chelsea in isolation is a good result, but when you look at the big picture, with their form, you'd be hopeful of a win. We didn't play that well, but the main thing is we didn't lose I guess. Would be nice to beat Southampton on Sunday, finish 8th and then go again next season.

Was agreement that it’s not particularly youthful

Haha fair play bud, I genuinely wasn't sure what you were getting at, I just thought I'd do the opposite :D

The weird thing is, I swear he's said he prefers working with a younger squad, then he always seems to use it as an excuse.

How did Rudiger only get a yellow for this?

Believe Thiago got away with something similar last weekend which wasn’t even given as a foul. Seems a ridiculous technique going in two footed to try and block a clearance?!

Always runs the risk of being sent off for it and potentially very dangerous if he mistimes that slightly and goes straight through Fofana.

Which i hate, as he is completely out of control and gets away with it just because he missed. If you are out of control, you are a danger full stop and you only hit by accident.

I hate this more because of what happened to the person he is jumping towards. No professionalism, a danger, and has no place on the pitch.

Or the next Leicester City who famously sacked their manager and won the Premier League at 5000-1 odds?

And as it wasn't the entire squad's birthday last night, you'd need to add the months Ie. KDH 23 years and 5 months ..... Or make the assumption that over the entire squad the birthday's are equally distributed throughout the year ..... so add in 6 months.

So the average age is nearer to 27.7!

Not young by any measure!
