The statistics are used because they distinguish when it’s a bias occurring which is happening to Tielemans. Your real time thinking is easy to alter to inner bias.

My original point was I don’t see KDH or Mendy capable of finding players in the same way Tielemans can and last night firmly proved that. KDHs passing was in particular wasteful

Stats are never the be all and end any final analysis. Questioning my objectivity and using KDH to back up your assertion causes me to question whether you're entirely sure of your argument. But I respect your right to your opinion.

People moan that Rodgers has no Plan B , then successfully uses a defensive strategy Plan B against a Champions League qualifying side, and they still moan?

Spot on. Some people on here could win the lottery and still moan that they had to spend £2 on the b*stard ticket.

I agree about KDH and Mendy not really having that vision to play to Tielemans role or to link up the midfield and attack. I see KDH more as competition for Ndidi long-term. We definitely need a replacement for Tielemans in in the summer as a priority.

Fairly similar to the game against Liverpool at home really, some excellent aggressive defending but ultimately the opposition missing very good chances as well and us being fortunate to pick up a result based on the balance of the game.

....this was setup to be a counter attacking game for us due to the highline Chelsea played!!!

Vardy was never mentioned, the pace of Barnes was wasted on the bench and when he came on, we employed him in a strikers role, with his penchant for drifting offside. In the end our inability to progress the ball quickly from defence, when the Chelsea siege broke down, was a big factor in us not taking advantage of the windows that presented themselves. We started to morph into a 5-4-1 as I felt we should have started, inviting teams on and setting traps are perfectly legitimate plans to pursue in a game.

Ok I agree about the setup. I was referring to the way we made sure we quickly got back into shape by not pushing Wingbacks too far forward  at the same time as I thought in transition we quickly got back into shape. Probably more due to the players involved. Kel and Vardy did hold position well but unfortunately not the ball. I do prefer a more attacking style as I imagine most do. Brendan has had success playing this formation against better teams and I think we would have taken this result before the game. I wonder if he would tried something else had Justin and tielemans been available. It was a free hit though given our goal difference and the next fixtures.

You’re right. I think most just mean ‘have a go’

Not knock it nicely around the back 4 in the last 10 mins of a European semi final

Would people prefer 1 shot on target and 1 point, or 15 shots on target and 0 points?! Simple really…all about the points

In isolation, obviously would rather the point vs the big 6 where our record this season including last night was played 12 lost 9, drew 2, won 1. However, everyone knows that you're not consistently going to pick up results with 2 shots a game, especially not with a generous defence like ours and our set piece issue.

Take the point, get the win Sunday and end the season with a modicum of respect and let's really get our act together this summer. No excuses, no claiming its still been a successful season for a team like ours, the standards are higher than that from a performance and expectation. Let's not hide behind the league position, you do the concede north of 20 set pieces in a season, throw away over 15 points from winning positions with less than 10 mins to go, handle the squad as badly as we did and somehow manage to fail to qualify from a Europa League group as hideous as the one we were in.

Big summer, let's do it.

Thought we did ok yes poor going forward but solid at the back for a change they had a lot of the ball but baring one glaring miss all the had was half chances

we have played better and lost this year so take the point and move on

Put into perspective remember talking to some after the Roma game and they were saying that we will be lucky to pick up any league points from the last 4 games. We have 7 from 3 so far let's carry it on into next season

Disagree strongly.

He’s statically our highest performer in relation to passing, xAssists, key passes and progressive passing.

Football fans love a scapegoat.

If you think he has had a good season we really are poles apart in opinions on football.

You'll have to show me where I said he had a good season.

All I have said that out of central midfield options, Tielemans can make a pass far more than others and that occurs even in the poor season he's had as the stats highlight.

...15 shots on target means we are creating opportunities and for some reason not taking our chances!!!

That can be looked at and remeded by a change in your striker or working with him to improve.

One shot on target means the whole team had been stifled and our whole approach and overall quality is lacking and will stop us being in anyway competitive.

I will take the 15, it offers me hope that we are not too far away from where we want to be, one change of personnel, could overcome our short comings.

If we finish 8th there will be more than a ‘modicum of respect’. We will be behind the ‘big 6’ who we can’t expect to live with on a regular basis and a very good West Ham side.

I only caught the last 20 mins or so, but it seemed fairly evenly balanced to me, although the stats don't really reflect that.

Weird polarisation on here though.

....I  said prior to the game we need to start with 5-4-1, it is a solid tactic we can use against some teams!!!

When we choose to play with a back 3, our Wingbacks are always pushed too high up the pitch and we invite teams to dominate the spaces in behind them when we inevitably lose the ball. Going to a flat back five and playing on the counter is a plan he should be looking to use, but he slavishly tries to push his Wingbacks forward.

It really takes him far too long to see and understand what is unfolding in front of him.
