We were happy to get promoted,to see if we could compete….

Some hard words…I thought after last season we could up our spec..we can’t.!!
Lets face it,at present the WSL can present 4 top teams, maybe then only 2-3,that

can complete a league…the rest is unfortunately is cannon fodder..

Girls/Women are learning that they can’t hold that same competition as the men.

which does not mean top 5-6 clubs in each league w.wide aren’t in the mens

bracket,of producing top football, but at present even one Profi league is pushing it.

If host club can carry the financial stress ok,but at the moment can bottom WSL

+ championship afford to pay a decent wage..I really don’t know..

If somebody knows the needed wage bill & expectations from players..it would be interesting…

I don’t see a major spring in European woman’s football,like America had,where

more teams become competitive in the next 2-5yrs Where 10- 15 clubs actually play entertaining football. It’s slowly working but to feed a regularly International successfull side you need bottom half teams not loosing 4-0 or 6+ goals regularly…and then throwing up quality players..!

Its not just Leicester, the lower teams are struggling..

Then there must be a problem with the concept of having 12 teams in a  (Super) league. It cannot be good for future outside  investment into teams, other than what club owners can or cannot commit.

Its not just that, the rest as you call cannon fodder are still a clear step above us.

We held our own for multiple games under the previous manager but couldnt score from the chances we had, then people blamed the defenders because we couldnt score goals.  If we leading 2-1 when we concede late then no one moans about the defenders in that situation, the goals conceded before the managerial change was respectful, it was the goal scoring record that was the problem.

I’d go with that..but we haven’t improved through any channels since we got promoted generally, other than maybe off-field…

I wasn’t really expecting too much, but not the so consistent losses & regular

hammerings…Individuals are still not good enough for this league, and that is what I find a shame…

if they can find a quality striker in January they have a chance, find a keeper too I'd start to think they will stay up but as things stand they are down sadly.

That said they shouldn't be relegating anyone and in fact expanding to 16 teams, they regularly have long breaks between league games as they simply have too few teams

The whole set up is wrong the Women's teams should have been independent of the PL teams and grown organically under their own steam. The financing should have been structured  equally.

Sure it would have taken longer to grow but that would have given time for development of a greater number of players.

We could then have had a league where players weren't attracted to just a handful of PL teams and where any team could win it.

I struggle with the concept of the PL and supporting a team that has a minimal chance of success despite being a well run club, if I hadn't been a life time supporter I doubt I'd be attracted to PL football, likewise I find it difficult to be positive about LCFC women's Team.

Bang on - the division is a joke but no one at the top table wants to say because the coverage has grown so much recently.

Leicester City boss hits back at 'disrespectful' Chelsea and bids to change perceptions
Leicester City continued their miserable run to the season with a ninth successive league defeat courtesy of an 8-0 thrashing by Chelsea on the weekend.

Leicester City boss Willie Kirk is on a mission to alter the perception of Leicester City Women, who sit bottom of the WSL table without a single point, following a “disrespectful” tweet from reigning champions Chelsea.

The Foxes were romped 8-0 on the weekend after the Blues’ visited the King Power Stadium. The defeat was their ninth in nine league matches, and the heaviest to date this term. But before the goal gala began, Chelsea’s media team released a graphic on twitter in which a ferocious lion stood loomed over a trembling fox.

And Kirk has revealed he did not take kindly to the visual and the corresponding connotation that his side represent a “free hit” in the league.

"We have to make sure the disrespectful tweet that I felt came from Chelsea never happens again," Kirk told BBC East Midlands.

"We may not like admitting this, but a lot of people just now are seeing Leicester as a free hit.

"We have to turn that around."

Last month, Kirk, who previously worked at the club as the director of women’s and girls’ football, replaced Lydia Bedford as Foxes boss, but despite the shift in management, the Foxes have yet to relish a new manager bounce.

His tenure was rung in with a 4-0 home defeat to Arsenal, and while a narrow loss at West Ham followed in which his side showed signs of improvement, the recent thrashing from Chelsea does little to squander perceptions of Leicester as the league’s whipping team.

In the league, Leicester have scored just twice and conceded 25 goals. The only victory this season has arrived through a Women’s Continental League Cup clash with Championship side Blackburn. With a pointless campaign to date, Kirk’s side look destined for relegation heading into the winter break.

Yet, Kirk has experience working magic, guiding Bristol City to promotion to the top flight after going down with them and helped Everton avoid relegation.

His great escape with Everton was facilitated by fortuitous circumstances and a points deduction to a rival, which the 44-year-old Scotsman wasted little time in reminding media of when asked of his ability to do similarly with Leicester after taking over the helm.

But Kirk’s enthusiasm for the job at hand has not waned and he said helping Leicester stay in the WSL will be among his finest achievements in management.

"I still jumped out of bed Sunday morning because I know I have a job to do and know how big that job is," he said.

"That excites me. Maybe its some sort of sadistic mindset that I've got, I don't know."

He added: "The standard of the league is so unforgiving.”

"I've been in this position before with Bristol City and Everton, and, as the game has developed, this position is tougher than it would have been three or four years ago because of the quality in the league.

"I do understand that it is a massive challenge and when we achieve it, it will probably be the biggest achievement to date in my career."

Leicester kick-off against Liverpool at 2.00pm from Prenton Park on Sunday.

Nobody can whilst they are the whipping side of the league. We have defenders who can't  kick a football more than a few feet and both are goalkeepers have the distinct knack of imitating very poor jugglers. If the manager wants more respect from other teams then either improve or get out.

...I  went to the game against Chelsea,  pretty disappointed with our approach and the personnel in the team!!!

Playing Baker either right side our on the left was a waste of a player on the park for us, very much out of her depth and ineffectual.  Bringing back Molly Pike in the midfield did not help, we are a lot weaker with her in the team, it did not help our cause.

We are a much better team on the front foot, we were very reactive as opposed to being proactive against Chelsea and we need to have a plan when playing teams such as these where a deep block is the order of the day, than trying to foolishly compete with Chelsea on the same level.

Watched Beth England warming up and you can see the difference in quality. At half time she was fielding ball from her team mates and if the ball came to her on her right she controlled it with her right killing it dead and the same with her left foot. It is all about balance and we look poor in comparison.

Very much a mental thing with this team, we are a much better team when we look to compete and not sit off teams, I am not sure why Kirk chose to play in this fashion, but it was always going to be one way. It was almost as if the players had decided that this fixture just needed to be played and they could then concentrate on other games, that had been earmarked as "winnable".

Leicester are interested in bringing in Manchester United forward Rachel Williams, 34, on loan.

Blackburn midfielder Emma Doyle, 23, has had interest from Leicester but she remains under contract at her club so could prove difficult to move.

The WSL's bottom side Leicester City hope to be very active in the transfer window in an attempt to avoid relegation but might need to fund signings with outgoings.

New boss Willie Kirk is targeting at least four new players, including a striker, with several players being offered out on loan deals to make room.
