I have no doubt that Cucurella going to Chelsea will have helped this deal happen, and them having a buy back as well

Genuinely zero chance of fofana happening as a result of this.

Fofana will be off… Colwill as part of a deal was the only thing liked.

this window is just getting more and more depressing..

will there be any potentials left to actually sign ?

If Colwill does go to Brighton, then we should tell Chelsea to f-off.  This may mean they know that we are not prepared to do business now.  Otherwise, pretty stupid on their part unless the other deal hinges on this?

How come? Chelsea not afraid to splash the cash. Several players to sell to make up for it.

I would think Fofana would be a more important deal for them to do than Cucurella though - they definitely need centre backs, they already have Chilwell

I think this puts a massive dent in Chelsea's chances of getting Fofana now

Who would you want from Chelsea ?

and what CB do you buy to replace Fofana ?

Well… now that’s been scuppered where do we go from here??

if Fofana goes who are we getting as a replacement. All the obvious candidates have been signed. Going to have to pull a rabbit out the hat and with our recent record that seems very unlikely.

seems like we are a club on the serious decline

But our biggest challenge will be finding a centre half. Colwill was a target and gave us a chance to get one at a decent price. They've genuinely ****ed it.

Chelsea or us?

I don't see how this stops Chelsea signing him. Especially if he is adamant about wanting to leave.

He played a bit of center back in a back 5 for Brighton. He will play there and also cover for Chilwell possibly.

I expect it would have been easier for them to negotiate with us if we knew we would get a preferential deal for Colwill

Chelsea would have been well aware of our interest in colwill and the fact they've let him go to Brighton suggests they won't go near our asking price. Theyve got no chance now. Club won't do business with them.

Brighton, Palace and Newcastle on the verge of overtaking us now I'd say, whilst we just standstill.

Would rather have our squad than either of their squads tbh

still a few players short for all of them, before they overtake us

Brighton are on the verge of losing their two best players

Palace have lost their best player of last season

Newcastle will not be the fast rise everyone is hoping for imo

Odd business from Chelsea. Not sure they need another expensive left back, given that they have Chilwell - unless they plan to move Cucurella or Chilwell to LCB. Also, selling a CB when they are so desperate to sign one seems strange, especially as selling Colwill to Brighton takes away a possibly important bargaining chip in their pursuit of Fofana. Unless of course we've indicated that we're not interested in Colwill.

Unless you know what Colwill’s motives are (which of course you don’t), it’s a non argument anyway.

Colwill isn’t any of those other players. Who knows? Those others might have been more than happy to leave Chelsea? Maybe the contracts were right? And he will have some say on whether he moves from Chelsea and if so who he joins.

I don’t see Leicester as being the attractive proposition it was.

This thread is full of 60,70,80 million quid plus Colwill. As if anyone knows him.

He might not be interested in the slightest.

Not saying he is interested, but this post also works against your original point 😂
