For the 1st team maybe but the U23's he's plated almost exclusively as a centre half and that's what he's mainly played in his youth career. Don't get me wrong, he can and may play DCM going forward but he's a defender by trade, reminds me of Josh Knight.

Evans won’t have a season injury free. Colwill represents giving a young player chance to bed in for a season and then eventually take Fofana/Evans place next season. That said I don’t think the move happens without us letting go one of the back up three. We need to go back to long term strategy when signing players Agree. Our weakness is defence and we had the same group of defenders last season. Our first choice back 4 is excellent, but if one of the CBs get injured, we could well have significant issues. If Soyuncu can re-gather the form he showed for large parts of 20/21, then great but that's a big if, and even then, he struggled in crucial games towards the end of the season. Amartey and Vestergaard aren't good enough/don't fit our style of play. Last season, we scored more goals than any team outside the top 4, and in the friendlies so far, our attacking play has looked very strong. Maddison did well on the right towards the end of the season, and we're now stacked in CM. Ideally we get both a CB and RW. It will also depend on who we ship out - if a midfielder goes, we'd likely get another midfielder in, while if one of the CBs go etc.

It’s not like our under 23’s to play players out of position? 3
KingsX Posted 26 July 2022 Posted 26 July 2022 It's obvious we are desperate for young CBs. The Athletic just ran a piece on Rangers' sale of Calvin (Ughelumba) Bassey to Ajax. "Bassey 'rebelled' against playing centre-back for Leicester Under-23s, according to his former manager Steve Beaglehole. He had been asked to play there after losing his place at left-back following an injury and first-team manager Brendan Rodgers viewed that as his long-term position, but Bassey needed convincing." At that point 'gers got him off us for £230,000. And are now selling him, as a FB, for roughly 100 times that price. "Ajax will pay a fee that makes him the most expensive defender they have signed." So the round-peg, square-hole method to developing CBs has its drawbacks. Why not sign an actual young CB in Colwill? 1
Popular Post JimJams Posted 26 July 2022 Popular Post Posted 26 July 2022 Though ultimately Rodgers has been proved right. The lad lost his LB spot and was told his future was seen a CB. He disagreed, left, and has made his name as ... a centre back. 12

You may well be right, but the article implied Ajax would use him at LB (which would assume they stick with Ten Hag's four-man back line).
CrispinLA in Texas Posted 26 July 2022 Posted 26 July 2022 Chelsea need a CB as Barcelona keep getting their targets.....just do a exchange with Vesty, he's EPL experienced. 1

CrispinLA in Texas Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 (edited) Getting bored of the Levi Colwill situation, Is he available? Does he want to leave Chelsea? Does he want to come to Leicester? Does he expect first team football? And will he get it? Is Leicester the right choice or is he he better off going to Southampton? So many questions....feel like after so many weeks none have been answered🥱 Edited 27 July 2022 by CrispinLA in Texas 1

So many questions....feel like after so many weeks none have been answered🥱 ...unless you are directly involved in the club or a friend of his, you are not likely to have many of these questions answered!!! Is Leicester the right place for him to be, judging by the influence Jonny Evans has on players alongside of him the answer would be yes. With quality CBs on the books, Rodgers tends to gravitate to a back 5 so a good chance of games would be available. Obviously we want aspiring young players coming into the club, so I am bias in this respect, but going to Southampton or playing it sane at Chelsea, will stall your career as you are not getting the opportunity to put what you have learned into practice. 1
Foxes1 Posted 28 July 2022 Posted 28 July 2022 You can see it happening now, Soton get Colwill and we get Bednarek.
