When is the squad announced? Everyone else seems to be naming theirs, guessing it will be Monday?

Strikers: Harry kane, Ollie Watkins, Calvert-Lewin

 

I'd be surprised if Trent is in there but I would, him, O'Reilly and James be an extra centre mid option if needed.

 

Gibbs-White should probably go instead of either Palmer or Foden but I feel he's similar to Rogers and the other 2 might offer something different on the big stage. Bowen gets the nod as the hardworking wide option who could do a job both sides and even up front. 

Madueke probably the unlucky one to miss out. 

 

Calvert Lewin as a wildcard if you want someone to chuck on with a few minutes to go like we did with Toney at the euros. 

 

I'm sure Jordan Henderson will find his way in somewhere. 

Maybe he takes Gordon over Rashford or Eze but that's about right I reckon.

Be very surprised if Gordon makes it. Not been playing that regularly for Newcastle like he was at the start of the season, and Rashford has had a decent time for Barca.

To be fair I didn't know he'd picked up an injury recently. He'd cover as a 5th centre back option too.

Probably increases Alexander-Arnold chances of going but it will probably be Djed Spence

I think Tuchel likes Gordon and to be fair he's the natural left footed left sided player I think. If one of Palmer or Foden don't go, it will probably be Gordon.

And yet they still lost against the Saudis, which I imagine didn't go down well in Qatar. 

Either way, football history is littered with corruption and cheating - or "home advantage" as it was often called - so we cannot be surprised about it. Just looking at how Qatar "won" the bid for the WC in the first place, blatantly and openly acting corrupt, should tell you that such practices are entirely normalized. 
This WC will likely be no different.

Maguire not going is a poor decision. Ignoring the fact he is the best set piece threat and a decent leader, you can make a case he has been one of the top 3 performing centre halves in England this season.

 

If Dan Burn goes ahead of him its a joke.

Shame for Maguire, he’s had an excellent season and he always offers that something extra from set pieces or line breaking passes against a low block.

First time ever I actually feel for Maguire, solid season, leader, always a danger at set pieces and given his absolute thunder **** against Italy probably one of our best penalty takers.

Agree with the posts above, Maguire is very unlucky. I can't think of many, if any, English CBs who are in better form.

 

Rarely has a bad game for England too. Poor decision imho.

Harsh on Maguire but there were comments from Tuchel in the last friendly which suggested it was unlikely. I remember thinking it was uncalled for at the time.

I probably would have taken Luke Shaw as well. Rarely has a bad game at that level, and is actually fit for once.
