Just researched the date of this potential deal, looks like late October 1999. Did we not sign Darren Eadie for £3m quite soon after this? Was it instead of Booth (makes sense spending all that money tbh)

Mad that it still didn't really work out for us and Eadie was perennially injured as well.

I think we also were after John Hartson around the same time. I was gutted Eadie got injured as he looked decent before.

Jason McAteer 😂

How livid must he have been to be an ageing, well past it player and then rejected by Micky Adams?

Weren't we in for Michael Keane as well?

He had a decent career though. Don’t think he is as good as Evans, Morgan or Huth, but he wouldn’t have been a bad signing.

I always forget he played on loan for us in the Championship.

Trincao. The offer we made had a huge mandatory fee.

Didn't we offer 40M for him. If true, really did dodge a bullet.

What about the South American lad we were relentlessly pursuing? Cannot remember his name for the life of me. But he turned us down and went elsewhere ended up with a long term injury. It was all but done and dusted wasn’t it.

Aranguiz? Who went to Leverkusen?

I remember Pearson wanting Andy Delort when we went up - he even went on loan to Wigan too and was awful.

Think Luciano Vietto was possibly a bullet dodged too.

His record at Montpellier was alright and he just had a fine season at Nice

A lot of these players named are alright, hardly dodged bullets

I think Sigurddsson is the one. It still hasn’t fully come out about him.

Johan Cruyff, he was shit for Levante.

Lee Chapman, he never did buy a house in Oadby.

I can still remember the back page of the Mercury

Emile Heskey in 2011, According Emile he was about ready to leave Villa after Houllier left. Spoke to Sven, basically verbally agreed to join. Then McLeish was announced as Villa manager and asked Heskey to stay. Lets just say the Heskey 2011 was not the same Heskey we had of the 1990's. I believe the following summer of 2012 after being released by Villa he did come down to train with Leicester, but I'm not sure if Pearson was ever interested in singing him.

I'd say Martin O'Neill by the same line of thought.

Was linked with us pretty heavily after Pearson left but we got Ranieri in instead. Again, it wasn't the same MON from the 90s and the game had left him behind by that point, likely would've only tarnished his reputation here.

That fench guy that ended up going to Villa, I forget his name now but I think it was either him or Kante we was gonna sign. Could've been a different story

Veretout. Pretty much a mainstay for Roma
