Nobody wants to hear that, doesn't fit the narrative.

Regardless of the fee he’s still been dogshit. I’d come to this conclusion even if we paid £500k. Dogshit is dogshit.

He’s been okay, we’ve signed far worse. His pressing led to the goal that won the club the FA cup final, that alone is worth £30m of someone else’s money to me.

He is limited on the ball (imo mostly mentally, he is technically good but makes poor decisions/can panic under pressure), he played mostly out of position here, but at least he worked hard. He had some good spells where he was inexplicably dropped, and bad spells where he was inexplicably kept in the XI…

We are going to need a new scapegoat.

When we were pushing for Champion's League AP was really the only weak link, but fortunately we have signed a whole host of duds since then.  We are spoiled for choice.

Why is that a worry? I'd rather sign players on their quality, rather than their ethnicity

No more young French players….

Is obviously Vestergaard for the defence, not sure who will be to blame for the attack… we have the worst big chance creation in the league, so probably Daka? 🤣

I’ve tried to tell people over and over again for years, when every summer they say “we’ve got £70m to spend” etc. That if we spend a lot of money and don’t sell a player, we are punting a problem down the line as we need to make that money back.

Last summer we spent way more than normal and didn’t sell… we are now reaping the effects.

“So do I, the owners are good because they don't take a huge amount out and we always put back in anything we make. But unless we do something either very creative or shunt the problem down the line (ie. we have 0 to spend for a few seasons after), then we are most likely to continue investing in a similar manner to how we have before. “

And then you had the period of Brendan and his mate Congerton ,splashing money like rich kids in a sweet shop, buying stuff that's bad for you!

1 fraud gone for the future of the club a different refresh is needed!

Wording sounds a bit like they’re negotiating a deal for when he leaves the club on a free next summer

Reports last night he will be leaving on a free and taking a reduced wage to move this window.  Could be bollox of course but I suspect this gimp has just lifted his tweet from that.

I suspect we've allowed them permission so they're ready to go if we get someone in and he's surplus and we can let him go. On the basis if we don't sign a winger, he stays.

Never really got the chance to play in his favourite position as a striker or a 2nd striker as Rodgers forced him out wide, thought he had played well at the end of last season and when he’s had a couple of chances this season, fair play to him if he is prepared to end his contract early without a massive payout and at the end of the day it’s another squad number freed up so I hope Rodgers promotes one of the lads from the U/23s…

The problem with that generalisation is that it affects different clubs in the Prem so differently.

Man Utd, Man City etc can afford to get away with signings that fail. Crikey, Man Utd since Ferguson left have spent an inordinate sim of money on very average players. Yet they can still go and splash out 60 mill on a 30 yr old in this transfer window.

Leicester haven’t got that luxury. If we get it wrong, it hurts. We are still reeling on the back of the sheer waste of money that was spent after the title winning season I think. And blowing 30 mill on Perez, 20m on Soumare, 15 mill on Vestergaard et al, impacts on us in a big way. It’s essentially why we are struggling to recruit this summer.

I totally agree with that and I said the very same to my mate the other night. But, that is the case for 13 PL clubs. Aside from the ‘top 6‘ and Newcastle everyone makes expensive mistakes that they can’t come back from. We may be in a worse position than some other clubs as the likes of Villa dwarf what we spend. But I still maintain that all clubs make bad signings. It’s just a part of running a football a club at the top level.

Would that be about £80k a week in wages freed up? Obviously it's awful business when you sign a guy for £30m and let him leave on a free but his departure will be a significant help in getting our wages to turnover ratio down.

And his contract is running out at the end of the season anyway so any fee we would have got would have been small.
