He needs to hit the ground more than running. He needs to basically be The Flash.

Won't start till September

The exits are all going to happen in far more of a rush than most would like I imagine, just hope that the targets we want are available afterwards

I’m just hoping we get the outgoings and incomings sorted way before the window closes even as to say in the next week or so, which will enable the new signings to bond with their new team mates and get up to speed.

On the outgoing front it’ll be quite sad to see if they do go Perez, Nacho and Youri as they’ve been great servants for the club unfortunately we have some players I’d offer to drive to their new destination but some will really be missed !

Don’t be stupid. Someone spilt coffee in the fax machine. We’re waiting for a new one, but the chip shortage has meant it might take a year or so.

I think that our inactivity can be traced to Fer Nino's assault on Fofana that derailed our last season and that we are still paying for it now.

If that happened we wouldn't have bought Vestergaard and would have an extra £15m in the bank plus wages and one less squad place, but also I believe that the Vestergaard signing has caused our recruitment team to withdraw into their shells, no doubt scarred by that trauma and fearful of venturing back into the market.

I really doubt its one deal that's scuppered us. I mean we earnt pretty much what we paid for Vestergaard in those final 5 games of the season where we moved up 5 places in the standings. We've got so much shit.

Well it's not so much about the money, more about the PTSD.

Anyway, at least those that said they don't trust Rodgers with the rebuild have got their wish.

Has the window closed already?

You sound like somebody that is hoping against hope for late deals, ignoring the club's apparent inertia and the chatter being as quiet as the grave.

Don't do it to yourself.

I reiterate what I said last week.
I think it looks like the club are going to make plenty of changes to the squad NEXT summer when players are out of contract.
This summer, I believe they are sticking rather than twisting and I doubt we’ll make many significant signings.

It looks like the freshening up of the whole playing personnel will happen next summer.

I hope I’m wrong though. We need additions now imo

As sick as it made me to say it, when my mate asked about how our summer was shaping up, I told him to consider a long shot relegation bet on us, if we don’t get some key deals over the line.

Do i think we will, of course not. But do I think we could … yes.

The premier league isn’t a league you can sit still for long in.  We clearly have a top squad but one that can be disjointed and relies on key areas working well.

The worry for me, is that our older stars perhaps drop off at the same time. if kasper, vardy and evans all have poor seasons we already significantly drop in quality.

Then if we were to get 1 or 2 injuries (barnes, Mads or Fofana)  we could suddenly become a pretty soft team.

If we don’t solve our defensive flaws we will be in a really difficult place.

on paper the teams that have come up are going to be better than the ones that went down.

I always keep the faith that the club know what they are doing behind the scenes. But just the thought of missing our top targets and scraping the barrel at the end of the window horrifies me.

With such a shake up needed and one that’s proving to be harder than expected we need to get the next 2/3 deals absolutely correct!

but then  other part of me, thinks that if our squad is healthy, we could push for top 5. A lot is yet to be seen and i’m hoping that Brendan can find a way to remind me we are a quality team and regain some optimism. Sevilla will be a really good indicator

I don’t think it’s totally outlandish.  Our momentum under Rodgers is clearly going in one direction, he’s never shown the ability at any stop to reverse that, and so far we’ve done nothing to strengthen.  Obviously at full strength this isn’t a relegation side but another year of heavy injuries and it’s certainly not out of the question.
