We looked exactly like last season. Lots of side to side and backwards passing. Crap at playing out from the back when there is even a tiny bit of pressure....and still very shaky from set pieces.

I've been really optimistic but today's performance felt like deja vu for me.

Hopefully it wasn't an achilles. Ricky was able to walk off, so maybe it at least wasn't that?

Also walked off when he did is ACL

Re Ricardo, I remember him starting last season really well with those two near identical assists for Vardy vs Wolves and Norwich after driving runs and looking great vs Man Utd (admittedly against zero press), so it’s still there but early substitutions and niggling injuries with a sense of fragility make it unlikely he can be a 30+ start player anymore, 20 might be ambitious, but it’s not anywhere near a Bertrand level career capitulation but a massive frustration.

Basically played a half a game too?

Played on with a fractured leg too vs Liverpool after the physios kept telling him he was OK.

Wash your mouth out with soap mate 😜

You can’t say Ricky’s name in the same sentence as that chunky Teletubby, that’s me being nice about Bertrand 🤦🏻‍♂️

Tbf, a physio is unlikely to detect a fracture on the pitch if it isn't blatantly obvious.

He went down twice though and still played on, which in light of how badly he's been injured since 2019/20 was peculiar. That whole game was reckless though, we pushed Vardy to the limit as well and did the same in the league game a week later and put him out for 3 months.

Mr. Praet really is a quandary  :(

Wilf is too good defensively, but is also too limited in possession, so also a quandary

Maddison :appl:

I am also sure I saw someone run past Vardy.

Or, don't buy the RW and go two up top (most likely 3-4-1-2) when there isn't a RW available to play that role, which is what I imagine will be the case again this season. It suits us when you have Castagne, Ricardo and Justin as wing-back options.

Problem is that Ricardo is already crocked so we are one more full back injury away from Thomas having to play as a wing back, which doesn't suit him at all, or worse still Amartey or Hamza having to fill in at RWB.

Vards isn’t really quick 15 to 30 yards anymore ….

can recall the last time he outpaced a defence from the centre circle …. He’s adapted his game

Are we monumentally unlucky or have players like Wes, Barnes and Ricardo become more prone to picking up knocks following their serious injuries?

100%. What he’s lost in his legs he’s gained in his brain. His movement is so razor sharp now that he doesn’t need that blistering pace anymore

Agreed, I remember a couple of years ago when he tried knocking it (and sprinting) past Lamptey.

He definitely has evolved and over a short burst still has that pace to beat a lot of CB’s.

Still sad, imagine how we all felt when rumors about Kasper, I’ll be a lot more saddened the day that Vards isn’t playing for us.
