Rodgers hasn't got that system right in his time here though, that's my biggest concern.

He’s gotta play Praet from the start against Brentford if Ricky P is injured. Maddison was our best player until he got moved to the right, he needs to play centrally, especially as Youri doesn’t want to be here anymore. Praet was very good when he came on today, pressed well and was creative too. 
 

I’d go for this

This would be the team I'd pick too, Praet and Maddison have the energy to interchange too.

Based on today's performance I might even play Soumare ahead of Ndidi, not that he was particularly Good.

It's not just been a one-off display either, Praet has been very good in his last two games, good in his last 3. He also made that sublime pass against Brentford a few seasons ago in the Cup. Good game for him to play.

 

I doubt he starts, but reckon he will get minimum 30, maybe even 45.

Praet could build a really good partnership with Castagne. Obviously not a permanent solution, but until we sign a right winger its worth giving Praet a chance..

Praet has always been a decent, tricky midfielder. But in these last few games I’ve not seen anything new from him, that we haven’t seen before. This isn’t a criticism of him, it’s an observation that Rodgers wasn’t enamoured before, and a few cameos in pre season are unlikely to have changed his mind.

Starting 11 and subs really highlight how poor our wide options are. Can’t be anyone at the club who is remotely happy with our squad heading into the season. Feels like we gambled on getting European revenue each season so gave contracts reflecting this, now a load of bad injuries and an 8th place finish has left us looking in a right mess. We looked decent in parts but need a win vs Brentford.

your first point is valid but Crikey, we can’t pick him because of one pass he made a few years ago..
