Just to clarify my position before I continue. I believe that our owners are wonderful and decent people with strong ethics and that is a very rare quality in modern sport. I couldn’t wish to have better people in charge and I am forever grateful for what they have done and what they continue to do.

That said, my question is this. Do you think that Top is ruthless enough? I’m thinking for example in terms of knowing when to call time on Brendan’s reign and that of his staff.

Vichai was a very experienced businessman and  would clearly act quickly and decisively when he needed to. Before the tragic accident, I imagine that the plan would have been for Top to gradually take on more and more responsibility, with Vichai being there to mentor and guide him. My worry is that because Top now has so much responsibility on his shoulders, could this potentially hinder the decision making process at the club?

You don't have to start with "I believe that our owners are wonderful and decent people" and talk about that. Everybody is deserving of criticism, including the owners. Everything just seems wrong at the minute.

Wasn’t it Top who ‘sacked’ Pearson before he was reinstated? That was pretty ruthless.

That said, Rodgers should have been gone in February. He’s been given a second chance at the start of this season and hasn’t taken it whatsoever. Time for Brendan to go.

Yes I think he is, he did it with Puel, what I will say is they will give Managers time to turn it around and only when it is absolutely clear that isn’t going to happen, then they pull the trigger, if it doesn’t happen this week then I have no doubt it will happen in the next month.

Not 100% sure but I thought it was Vichai and Top convinced him to reinstate him? I'm sure someone Will correct me

No, I think he’s out of his depth to be honest.
He’s only in this position because of the tragic events of a few years ago, ideally he would of been working under Vichai for another 10 years or so.

It’s not about being ruthless it’s about knowing when the time is right. Pearson survived after that horrendous second half of the season in the championship that saw us throw away promotion when many were screaming for him to go. Vichai and Top decided it was best to stick with him and we then romped to the championship title. On the other hand however Ranieri was quickly removed. I think a lot depends on the mood around the squad, if they feel the manager is still getting something from them and they are still playing for him then he will get more time.

I'm really not sure but he's going to find out how ruthless the Premier League can be.

We have key players leaving, others that don't want to be here, a manager that looks like he's lost and finances ran by children. I'd agree with others, I think Top is out his depth now.

Smiles and waves are lovely when things are going well, but now it's time to be ruthless.

It's not just the manager is it! Has top been ruthless enough with the recruitment team above the manager.  maybe things above the manager need refreshing.

The owners have been ruthless enough previously but for whatever reason with Brendan he always seems to get the benefit of the doubt.

It's a strange situation. In my opinion i would of sacked him at the end of last season. As soon as the fixtures were announced i was 90% confident we would be in the position that we currently find ourselves in.

I'd say not. Everything has been too nice and laid back for too long now. In Top's defence he's been thrown in at the deep end far sooner than he maybe would've been comfortable with

Wasn't the account of the Pearson sacking and unsacking in Feb 2015 that Top pulled the trigger and Vichai reversed it? I think Top is ruthless enough

From what I was told by someone who works at the king power was that Vichai was having a bit of a rant after the match saying Pearson has to go, a reporter overheard it and ran with the story. Vichai later calmed down and did nothing. The club was then taking by complete surprise when later that evening sky sports started reporting that Pearson had been sacked.

How accurate it is I’m not sure but I asked the chap I know what had happened when I saw him a couple of weeks later and that’s what he told me.

I could imagine dorset about wetting himself to get his scoop out there first without waiting and checking lol

I think we can only hope that taking out huge loans on the back future EPL broadcast fees focuses the mind that things need to change - and very quickly. This time next week 1pt from 12 is not looking very good.
