I just see this summer as an adjustment for last years failings, the club didn't sell and invested to try and kick on to establish themselves in the top 6, which didn't work for a few reasons.  The board/owners made a mistake trying to bank on selling our unwantables this summer, hence we have been well and truly snookered.  Other clubs will naturally try and take the rich pickings, and make lowball offers and you soon find out who your friends our when the chips are down.  If I were Top I would be more determined to stick two fingers up and prove the club has the metal to get pass this mini crisis.

The "don't sell players" but also "why aren't we buying players" mentality on here is truly mind boggling.

Your points make perfect sense, KP are excellent Business people, with losses to deal with, and difficult decisions to make to secure a long term future, they are taking calculated risks, it boils down to simple, but also complicated maths, and future planning, perhaps we are following our model of being the best by aiming off and not panicking at least that's how I want it to be, none of us, I think want new owners!

The biggest issue at present is we have a manager incapable of getting a tune out of what we have, or expect, whose blown a wod of cash last summer on Ineffective players, in his opinion, who are not contributing, the only way everything improves, for everyone is a different conductor, getting a better tune with what we have. Come on the Foxes

It's becoming the most plausible reason for everything grinding to a halt this summer.

Its also usually when clubs are on the market dead man walking managers tend to survive, e.g. Steve Bruce at Newcastle.

I don't think Top is looking to sell, I just feel this is just a reflection on the last two years. Covid has impacted the club as well as Tops finances & it has come to light that the club has been poorly run financially over the last 2 -3 years.

I'm hoping the club can consolidate while maintaining premier league status.

It basically says that they are looking to balance the books in light of the new FFP rules and that because last summer they didn't sell a player to generate revenue and spent heavily we are feeling it now.

The long term aim is to not reply on player sales to generate income so that we can compete and its a process that is going to take time.

Edit - It would have been much easier for everybody involved if this information came out at the start of the window.

Dorset wrote an article a few weeks ago which said this

a lot of posters have written about ffp

It could obviously be used as a convenient smokescreen for a number of other reasons as to why we aren’t spending. Im afraid we just have to wait to find out ……

So a certain unnamed Rothley-based man has been talking out of his arse then?

Ah well, at least it was a day's discussion when there wasn't much else going on...

The only people talking out their arse are those talking about the rothley based man and making up stuff he said. He's not even been in the pub recently.

So this whole time we were just being responsible and looking after our future, and all those people that were taking digs at Top were wrong? Imagine my shock.

It's all very well making short term tough decisions, but the progress on the commercial revenue won't look very good when you're in the championship....

It's a gamble.

Exactly! Short term pain, long term gain!

The changes in FFP is common knowledge so anyone with a brain would have realised that this is what the club have been doing. Spending money we dont have is unsustainable. If it means dropping down a division to be solvent or profitable and secures the long term future of the club then so be it. The Norwich City model may irritate their fans but their future is secure.

Also a message to the council, get a move on with the stadium planning permission!

Appreciate these things need to be checked but LCFC is their golden goose and the more successful the club are, the more income they get.

Weird. Should've known better than to believe the FT fibbers.

Wonder what this summer's window means for our ability to sign players in January/next summer then? I know it's not comparable but after spending just £25m last summer Newcastle were able to spend £83m in January and £123m this summer.

Not expecting the same level of spending but some statement signings would be nice

It's a gamble.

Thing is increasing our revenues from the stadium redevelopment (and surrounding area) will take time to build and positively impact our total revenues.

also corporate hospitality revenues will be maximised only if we are in the prem and pushing at the top-end. So we can’t take our eye off investment in the playing squad

If as Top says we're not in trouble financially and can trim the squad then we must be able to invest. Given Fofana has gone.
