I always think it’s a sad day when I’m reminded that we are a ‘selling club’ and in this case we’ve sold one of our best players.

But, he wanted out and we held out for a lot of money for him. What we got was exactly what I said I thought we’d get a couple of weeks ago… 70 mill plus add ons.
This leaves us with an awful defence. We can only hope we sign the right players to rectify this.

He owed us nothing, we a rich club, went and forced his previous less rich club to sell... 2 years later, a rich club came to us and forced us to sell.

Excluding the last month, he did everything we expected and paid for.

Disappointed weve lost an amazing talent, onward now

They're are ways and means of doing things and he showed no class or respect for the club or fans.

If its 70 million with achievable add ons I sort of hope he hits those targets ,but only just.

If there's no add ons ,I hope he has shit luck with injuries.

I understand players move on and I wish most of them well in the next stage of their career.

Forfana and Chilwell,  I can't stand.

Chelsea tapped both of them up ,as well as Drinkwater, and they never get punished.

Despicable club that seem to get an easy ride with Leicester fans , who seem to despise Spurs.

Never understand that one🤨

It's mainly the manner in which it's happened that irks people. a) the fact he only signed a 5 year contract in March, b) his disrespectful and unprofessional behaviour, c) Chelsea's parasitic existence, and d) the complete absence of any sort of financial fair play.

I view a) as being about protecting the club from being ripped off when he was sold, which happened. B) is subjective, and c+d) is just the world we're playing in.

What about the fee? Does 7 years mean we only 10 a year?

You are probably going to see more contracts of this length,

The fact that you can spread the accounting of the fee over 7 years makes it much more affordable in FFP terms but also you haven’t got the down side of having the threat of leaving on a Bosman for an extra couple of years make the clubs management of the clubs finances  more predictable.

Of course you have the issue if the transfer doesn’t work out but that  was ever thus

One more season would have been nice, rather than throwing the toys out the pram and acting like a ****ing ****, all that after we stuck by him last season helping him back from injury and giving him a new contract. If he backs himself then he would have proven himself further here and got his move. Anyway he will do the same at Chelsea once real show interest

All correct. However, it’s a different level or 2. Chelsea will sack Tuchel if he doesn’t turn it around and have spent £250m already this summer. He has an incredible opportunity to become their main cb for a few years before moving on to even bigger. This for his career make sense. Despite him being a dick to achieve it.

Fofana doesn't come out of this smelling of roses. He didn't play all that much for us and flounced out when Chelsea showed interest. I don't wish him harm, but neither do I wish him well. He's just another club's player now.

I get that but he’s done the same to us as what he did to Saint etienne so I’m not surprised by what he’s done.

I suspect that a lot of fans here are upset, as this move confirms the reality. As soon as we get a top class player now, they will be hoovered up by the "big" clubs. To an extent this was always the case, but we were able to retain the likes of Vardy in the past. Not going to be the case now, we cannot compete financially.

I think most fans are fine with top players going to other clubs but when you refuse to play and are costing us points then that shows pure disrespect to the club and it’s fans.

I can’t believe some guys on here are happy with his behaviour. He threw a strop because we didn’t want to sell him. These guys should never be called professional.

I feel for all those parents who have bought their children Fofana shirts over the summer. Surely the club or dare I even say the French Pri(complete as appropriate), cover the costs for a new shirt.
