I’d probably feel more comfortable creating 10 chances and winning 2-0 than what we are doing at the moment, tbh.Ā
Ā

A win is a win, and I’m obviously happy with it - but a 95ish% conversion rate is never going to be sustainable.Ā
Ā

Maybe a bit nit-picky, but we’ve played some absolute dross in Leeds, Palace, Forest and this lot, and still not created huge amounts.Ā

Difficult to know if we’re any good or not.Ā

Ffs scored 10 conceded 0.10 points out of 12……Can’t do much more, and the ā€œdrossā€ were all above us at the time……love this forum

Yeah we’ve had a good spell that’s true. Does it just paper over the Rodgers cracks or is it a sign that we are surging back towards mid table mediocrity? Ā Too early to say I think, but done well in our last 4 games. Let’s see where we go from here, is it down to the lake I fear?

Worrying times for Wolves. You can’t let us rock up to your own gaff in the form we’re in and conceded 4 goals. Think we were better yesterday but still not sure we got out of second gear, we were very clinical which is obviously great, but isn’t necessarily sustainable. We won’t keep scoring at the rate we are with the chances we create, we still need to do more in an attacking sense and get in to better areas, as well as not giving as many chances away. Most pleasing thing for me yesterday was the subs, hopefully he’s turned a corner and worked out how he can make effective changes from the bench to keep us in the ascendency.Ā

I only recall once yesterday that we allowed them to break in numbers on transition and get behind usĀ

Ā

similarly with LeedsĀ

Ā

it could simply be that we aren’t committing numbers forward to generate more opportunities and that’s another reason we aren’t conceding as many good chances. Look at the heat map on the right yesterday- Castagne really didn’t get forward much. How many times did JJ get beyond Barnes ? Ā Earlier in the season the full backs were going too high and leaving us so exposedĀ

Ā

the West Ham and Everton fixtures will be very informativeĀ

Oh, we're good - in attack we're splendid. Looking at goals for we're well up and better than mid-table. Faes has introduced a significant element of solidity and continuity in the defence.

I don't believe this stops the questioning of Rodgers as manager, but one decent unheralded transfer has stopped the rot temporarily.Ā

Yet some berk was questioning whether Evan's absence was why we were improving! Truth is, Madders was back and Tielemans put an excellent shift in. If Rodgers can keep their confidence bubbling then he might redeem himself - cos these lads enjoy scoring.

Yes fair point, certainly doing more defending with the ball in front of us at the minute, and if that’s a deliberate money ball play that’s working then fair enough, but I still don’t think we’ll fare all that well conceding 20+ shots for a sustained period of time (not saying we necessarily will, but even half of that is a lot of shots to be facing). I think their Xg was something like 2.4, better, more clinical teams will punish that.Ā

Agree but I was always told if you don’t concede, you don’t lose…..clean sheets just as important as goals scored…..and we got more tackles and blocks in yesterday than we did earlier in the season….next three (sorry 5) games not easy….but if Forest get four from Brighton and Liverpool, what’s to say we won’t do the same….one thing I do think gets overlooked on here is when we go 2-0 up, the need to push drops off, protect what you’ve got….and I think we have done that very well…..we are in a better place….

Let's see where we are in a few games time. Don't get carried away pal.Ā

We were being told we are the worst team ever and we'd beat Derby's record. There was absolutely no redeeming qualities to anything according to some. Them people have already been proved wrong.Ā

Did not hear anybody say this.

xG: Wolves 2.12 - 0.89 Leicester

xGOT: Wolves 0.31 - 1.49 Leicester

Ā

Difference was in the quality of finishing. Clearly Wolves identified they needed a finisher with Jiminez out, and got unlucky with the replacement. Costa isn't the answer but they will probably struggle until they do find a solution.

Ā

One thing we have always had is players who can take chances and it definitely gets us out of jail sometimes when our overall play is fairly poor.

wolves actually really reminded me of ourselves.Ā
Ā

They seemed to be playing really well for a while and then just seemed to implode on themselves. Some very random loose back passes, by killman in particular.Ā

Ā

I personally think they will be completely fine though, a lot worse sides in the league.Ā

Ā

If we maintain doing the basics right, there’s no way we can go down with some of the poor teams around. My initial worries are completely Ā falling. Ā All the bright spark from leeds seems to have faded, southampton have no goal threat whatsoever. Bournemouth are just championship players grafting by… how many years have we seen these type of teams drop like hotcakes. The only team i expected to be big candidates that aren’t are everton, who it looks like have found their identity under frank. (credit where it’s due)Ā

Ā

Tbh i’d be feeling confident even if i was forest. There’s no huge gulf in class for them, they just need to get game smart. Something that southampton seem to be each season, they get close and then just grind out the big results.Ā

Ā

I imagine this is going to be one of the most entertaining relegation fights in a while. Hopefully we aren’t involved in it for much longer and push up to mid table.Ā

It's always entertaining, but when your not involved it becomes irrelevant & major issues are lost often in entitlement thoughts of one's self...

Our xG will never look great because we generally score brilliant goals and also tend to sit off at 2-0 up. I agree we can be better and do more but if the job is half done then we aren't going to force it.

Ā

Nottingham Forest's xG was higher than ours but two of their best chances came in the last 10 minutes at 4-0 down.

I read that report from sportinglife.com and they said Leicester have been lucky to win their last two games with xGs of less than one and Leeds and Wolves more than 1. At the end of the day there is only one important stat and that's goals! Ā We scored SIX and the "stats gurus@ on the website scored ZERO. Enough said.

I think calling us lucky is way too far. We have very good finishers at the club and that is a part of the game too.Ā

Ā

However, long term our xG and overall patterns of play does need to be looked at. Again on the defensive side as much as the attacking.

Exactly, sure I read we have scored the most goals this season from outside the area.
Ā

Oh no we’re really good at shooting from outside the area what will our xg look like.. who caresĀ

We should at least care a bit as I think it's part of the story as to why we really struggle against a low block. Been an Achilles' heel for a while now.
