Barnes is overrated. Zero skill, lack of end product, unable to pass. Greedy Fecker really isn't all that.

Yet he bagged about 4 in 5 games before the World Cup. Without maddison he’s our only real threat.

Harvey Barnes is not the problem in this team. Not in a million years.

He’s one I think other clubs will come in for in the summer.

The problem in this team is two fold. We aren’t anywhere near creative enough without Maddison. And our defence is shocking at times.

Sorry Col...

You concentrated on their chances & forgot ours,Barnes at least 2-3,then KDH Open goal, plus others maybes...

None but none count if they don't go in,or are made easy to save...

Same as any opposition's could haves, should haves...

Exactly

Harvey is a bit of a flat track bully and will terrorise weaker defenses. However against the best , you have to use your brain and think ahead , instinct won't cut it. He remains however one of our principal goal scorers and he should still get double figures this season.

Own goals often come from strong attacking play...we don't produce enough of that ourselves ..result was expected.

If.BR can get us playing to the level we were at against  west ham/Everton then we can still win 8 more games this season

Perez seems to shine in a second striker/ 10 role and we know how well suited Kelechi and one of Daka and Vardy are as playing as a pair up top.

Thomas was decent last night but my word do we miss peak Justin and Ricardo.

Although Daka is a decent enough striker, Vardy still brings another dimension to City's play. His positional play continues to be exceptional and he was close to scoring - as individual defenders Liverpool's are still very capable of thwarting most threats. Which brings me to Barnes' current  indifferent play. I know Rodgers is protecting Vardy's fitness, but I'd prefer Vardy to take Barnes place. Several posters have pointed out that Barnes hasn't been tracking back to aid Thomas. I recall the way Salah, assisted by Alexander-Arnold's long diagonal cross-field passes, absolutely roasted an isolated Chilwell in the December '19 game. That's a Rodgers failing, but Vardy is far more active in defence.

Soumare is another player who is one-directional. Tielemans had another unimpressive' whatever' game. It seems that his lauded passing goes missing at the most inconvenient moments.

Maybe we need a martinet style manager, another Wallace-type, to gee up certain player's attitudes to playing for City.

Wtf are people complaining about, we were unlucky, that's all there is to it.

I'd be with you if it wasn't the FIFTH lead we've let slide just this season, with the problem being just as bad last season.

Unlucky? Two complete **** ups cost us dearly. Liverpool we’re absolutely dog shit.

And another point on Soumare, what exactly did he do? He won a few tackles, he showed good physicality, but did he take advantage of their midfield? Did he produce anything at all in an attacking sense? KDH was probably our most productive midfielder in my opinion.

Liverpools midfield we’re appalling, both teams were just losing possession needlessly, I would have liked to have seen him take the game by the scruff of the neck, which is what he was purchased for?

This morning part of me feels like giving up and just focusing on watching Coalville.

Nearly 50 years I’ve been watching them and you think you’ve seen it all, all the major stuff relegations, promotions, cup wins, championships, administration, it’s almost like they have ran out of the big stuff to torment you with so have decided to turn to niche moments like last night.

Losing a three goal game without the opposition actually scoring is just another one for the list.

Dunno in those 50 years there’s been plenty of moments like that.

I’d take it every time of say Newcastle or West Ham.

And moments like that will happen to Coalville too. It’s Sport that’s what makes it so bloody addictive

Watch the highlights back and see how few chances we made. If Salah (sitter) and Nunez took theirs, we’d be looking at 4-1 and the conversation would be very different.
The most disappointing part was how poor we were in the second half, both defensively and in terms of chances created.

It wasn’t ‘close’ really.

Ordinarily their two goals wouldn't occur, though. Liverpool will always create chances at home, on genuine attempts it wasn't that far apart.

What? Soumare formed part of a double pivot with Wilf, and looked decent I thought, so obviously KDH as the most forward midfielder would be more productive from an attacking perspective.

Why is everyone trotting out the ‘if Liverpool were better we would have got smashed’ line, it is so disingenuously obvious and does not need saying as it applies to every single opposition in every game for every club.

Yeah Barnes would only feature in the formations I suggested as a striker as opposed to AML.

Agreed, such a Leicester thing to do as well, if there ever was a game we’d beat Liverpool last night was that game - instead we score two goals for them to give it away.

He literally destroyed Liverpool when we beat them 3-1 last season (or was it two seasons haha?). He can have good games against good teams.
