He lived in Oadby when he was in charge at the City, his son John went to Gartree High School, same school as me but a couple of years younger. I seem to remember him as a nice lad, big golf player and as terrified of his dad as everybody else.

What a difference to the weed we have in charge now 😪

Yes chalk and cheese. Jocks sides always seemed to play better 2nd half is my rememberance. They must go in at half time these days and Brendan’s having a little cry in the corner

My dad used to play golf with Jock at Scraptoft club (never understood a word he said!).

Loved big Jock when he managed us, and was gutted when he left. Still my favourite City manager. Great Times.

My first season 79/80, finishing off at Orient winning the league, fantastic times to get started for a 16 year old.

I  remember being at a London match (can't recall where - West Ham I think) where we lost, and the players seemed scared to go back in at full time. Jock apparently was not averse to throwing things around when he was displeased: he used to scare the fans some of the time, FFS!  But his teams never gave an ounce less than 100%, and I used to love that.
