It was a great time to be a fan and as I remember it as a young kid Jock was worshipped by the fans and brought in an era of excitement after a few really poor years and sheer incompetence of his predecessor - we could do with Jock now he’d get so much more out of these players it’s untrue

I think our respect for the man was intensified when he spoke of his retirement (brought on by the onset of Parkinsons). He spoke of having had a great life, and asked that no one feel sorry for him as he had no regrets and was grateful for his experiences.

Yes chalk and cheese. Jocks sides always seemed to play better 2nd half is my rememberance. They must go in at half time these days and Brendan’s having a little cry in the corner

No doubt moved to Oadby for the Swinging Sporran pub at Woolco:-

 

 

My dad used to play golf with Jock at Scraptoft club (never understood a word he said!).

My first season 79/80, finishing off at Orient winning the league, fantastic times to get started for a 16 year old.

I  remember being at a London match (can't recall where - West Ham I think) where we lost, and the players seemed scared to go back in at full time. Jock apparently was not averse to throwing things around when he was displeased: he used to scare the fans some of the time, FFS!  But his teams never gave an ounce less than 100%, and I used to love that.

Jock lived in Cranborne gardens off Manor Road in Oadby. I  lived 3 doors away

I also lived on main street in Swithland 4 doors down from len Shipman who was a director at lcfc in the 70s
