Yep. Bring the other dossers in and tell them straight to find another club or train on their own indefinitely.

I said this on another thread that I’d love to see us do this with a couple of them to make a stand. It’d be costly but some of these will struggle to find a club that will take them if we do.

Unfortunately Top encourages this culture so it must be difficult for any manager to come in and set standards.

Why has it taken over 2 months for him to have surgery?

Having looked on the blades forum about him, someone recently posted that after having his surgery his achilles has snapped again in a slip.

"Been told from someone who knows him, he had the operation to repair his Achilles and it’s snapped again, awful for him, long road to recovery"

That might explain it if there's truth in it.

Dreadful news if that's true

Great news. Does that mean he could be back for the start of the season?

Souttar and Nelson would be a great centre back partnership!

It'll likely snap again the moment he steps foot back on the cursed Seagrave turf.

Would be my preference and surely something we have to be considering.

Back on the grass.

Top on the other hand needs to get off it, it's clouding his judgement.

These two with Okoli and a newbie would be my preference, but we're probably stuck with Vestergaard. More than likely shifting Faes and Coady out, so every cloud..

I’m not sure you can suddenly start playing someone that you as a club have largely discarded and shown little interest in for the prior 2 and half years of his contract.

You know, it’s not just one manager that hasn’t fancied him, it’s what five on the spin now - included the guy he was supposed to have been signed for.

I mean we all thought that about Vestergaard last time we went down, and he ended up being our best Centre Back that season.

As long as we don't do anything daft like yknow, offer him a long contract after promotion while being fully aware of his limitations... we could do worse. It's not like LCFC have previous for that sort of braindead thinking... right?

Nothing like a bit over over exaggeration!

You are correct in that RVN is the 5th manager since Souttar joined;

Rodgers - Yep didn’t seem to fancy him despite signing him. Rodgers went very odd though in that last year or so.

Smith - seemed to like him as he played under him

Maresca - yep didn’t fancy him but he did like Faes so his judgement on centre halves is dubious for me!

Cooper - well Souttar went out on loan but ok, for arguments sake, let’s say that was with Cooper’a blessing and he didn’t fancy him.

RVN - he was both injured and out on loan since RVN joined so saying he doesn’t like him is a massive stretch.

So you can have 3/5 I’d say.

Given we have been an absolute shambles with a string of poor managers in the time he’s been here, I’d prefer to judge on his time at Sheffield United this season when they were great at the back and he was a top performer in his position in the league we will now be in. They fell off without him.

I find it funny we slate the likes of Smith, Cooper, RVN as poor managers but when it comes to a player that they haven’t played, the player is crap. So is their judgement good or bad?

Or maybe we need to have defenders who can defend again? It’s been what, 4 years since we had anyone decent. Fofana and Maguire before that. We used to be good at picking up centre backs but after watching the likes of Vestergaard, Faes and Coady stink the place out, give me a Nelson and Souttar partnership.

Both are good on the ball, maybe not as good as others but still good, and can defend.

Maresca figured he would be up against low-blocks in every game and his defenders didn't seem to prioritise defending. I assume thats why he liked Faes over more conventional defenders like Souttar.

Achilles ruptures can be close to 12 months for full rehab, I imagine whilst he is back on grass he has a lot of boxes to tick before hes even considered to return to full training let alone playing matches.

Don’t disagree but still my point stands.

If he's not fit for the start of the season then he will be with us at least till January so he'll get game with us. Then we can judge. Soutter, Nelson, Okoli and Coady would be my 4 CB s. May a new young left sided CB brought in. Vestergaard and Faes out.

Same as we probably will be next season…

Don't get the love* for Coady. Hes shit and has been since before he got here. At least the Danish lamppost had 1 good season for us. Get em all out if possible.

*love is probably too strong. What's the opposite of utter disdain?
