Unless a great option crops up, which is unlikely, we have to go for someone until the end of the season, even if it’s Sadler/Stowell.

The pool of available managers right now is full of absolute dross, that may get enough of a reaction to stay up, but will ultimately not be the right manager to lead our rebuild next season.

If we go with pragmatism, like Benetiz, then it HAS to be only for the next couple of months. We can’t afford a repeat of Shakespeare.

I would personally like us to take a risk on Carrick.

Seen some people mention Carrick, out of curiosity what makes people think he would be a good appointment?

Maybe if we stay up and fancy a risk but certainly not for the remainder of the season

give stowell at least 1-2 games, if its a clear improvement let him get rest of season, we just need to have more grit, determination and play much more direct, run with the ball instead of trying to be brazil.

You want someone to keep us up, or get us up next season? Realistically, chances are we're going to struggle to turn this round, not enough good players, particularly at the back.

Personally I’d have thought someone like allardyce would give us a chance of staying up as well as get us pushing on. I think the players need a no nonsense type  manager.

It’s a tricky one. If we survive this season, next season is likely to be another difficult season.

We need…obviously, someone who knows the Premier League well, knows how to organise a defence, which we haven’t had for some time.
l think a young manager trying to make his name in the game isn’t the way forward….yet. I have no idea who we should go for though.

No chance either Slot or Frank come here.Leicester ain’t even a decent stepping stone club at present.

Don't disagree but it's a chance to build something what with the expected play turnover in the summer

I'm astounded people in here are suggesting Allardyce.

There is absolutely no way Carrick is coming here right now.

Why?

They are not guaranteed promotion and we are not down yet.

Surprised Allardyce is as long as 66/1 currently

I don't know what goes through people's heads when they come up with those lists. Is it genuinely just who was sacked and not in the league anymore?

You mean a bit like Brendan (after we took him from Celtic)?

I wouldn't appoint anyone until we know what division we will be playing in next season. Stay up and the pool of interested managers will be so much bigger than seeking a fire fighter. Get relegated and there is no point having a £10mn a year manager when we will need to cull players to get the wage bill under control for the new reality.

Carrick is not going to leave his home town club who have a great chance of promotion for a club in turmoil whose premier league survival hangs by a thread.

In the summer, if we survive and Boro don't get promoted, maybe, but absolutely no chance he comes here now.

All depends on the ambition of the club.

Do the right thing short term and appoint a good stop-gap then there are so many options in the summer who could do a great job.

If we have no real ambition it will be Benitez or Gerrard straight away.

Knowing the league is incredibly overrated, especially a league as global as the Premier League.

Because he’ll want to see the season out.

A promotion looks great on his CV
