Bet even he hasn’t stayed up to see who he will play.

He's an idiot if he stays up for this.

I reckon Allen played that in off the edge of the green deliberately. Just not quite that thick that he almost missed it!

Finally.

It's a late finish due to Allen fighting back and missed chances from both, I don't think it's been because of overly tactical play.

Felt I was jinxing things by watching live. Flicked over and watched something else...

Voila. 17 - 15

I should do the same for the final perhaps.

Same here...  Though, TBH, he's been winning when I've been watching, too, so... :D

IN the 5 frames he lost from 16-10 up, he just kept making poor choices of shot and actually was just too cautious, but primarily in breaks didn't keep top notch control of the white.

Got the job done though but plenty still to do to win the final.

But Brecel is very uncontrolled at times, he will leave a lot of chances, IF Selby has his potting boots on, should be enough to get him over the line.

Tomorrow afternoon will be interesting as he will be knackered, missed a big chance when leading and dominating for 16-10 to finish it off around 10pm.

A couple of observations:

- Selby is there to win, not to entertain. I can't say that I find the tactical style of his play overly entertaining compared to other players (but that's on me) but I do appreciate how his all-round endurance game wins big so often. He's like Djokovic in that regard.

- If Selby wasn't from Leicester, there would be far less people on here defending his style, because tribalism. That's just the truth.

I've got to agree he's almost ruthless in the way he sticks to his style and wears down his opponents in a war of attrition.

I actually enjoy the tactical element of his games, I find the methodical nature of some of his frames fascinating, in the way he's relentless till he sets up an opportunity, however... I find the amount of time between shots quite tedious, particularly as he regularly addresses the shot, I focus on the screen, just for him to shake his head and start his planning all over again :frusty:
