The ashes 2023

Recommended Posts

Bat all day tomorrow and the match is pretty much safe, assuming there will be a rain delay or two on Tuesday the Aussies wouldn't have time to chase the 300 or more England have. Of course, that's not really enough time to bowl them out either, so draw becomes the most likely again.

Going to be difficult to balance the need to set a target that won't be chaseable with the time needed to take the ten wickets needed.

Recent history tells us if there is half a chance we will put them in and dangle a carrot. But yeah we'd need to bat all of tomorrow to even have a chance of that.

Yep, take it to at least the final session and it'll be a draw.

Depends how quickly we score in the first two sessions, but yeah.

To have the flexibility to do that (say at least a 300-320 lead) we'll have to go at some rate for the day, but then we know that isn't really a problem for this England team.

Without a spinner in the fourth innings I suspect we will try and bat out tomorrow and take the draw

but that’s a big change with the psyche of bazball so the players may not be able to adjust (see duckett’s inability to leave a wide ball when it’s begun to nip around)
