Looking like we could have done with a few more runs on the board.

Yeah we need some quick wickets, it's looking 50/50 as to whether we'll have a lead.

They're so bored lol

Pietersen is so bad.

I have to sync TMS. Can't be doing with Petersen. Plus their Aussies are Glen Maxwell and Jason Gillespie, who are almost decent considering the country of their birth.  Although Maxwell is starting to get a bit smug now.

Bowling attack needs some variation, Woods pace would have been useful.

It would have been but if we'd done the basics right we'd be well ahead in the game by now even without him.  The sloppiness today has been inexcusable.

He's worse in the IPL. Feels like he has to constantly talk.

Everything very quickly comes back to KPs favourite topic - KP, particularly in IPL and Hundred comms.  The combination of KP and DJ Sammy on comms is truly one of the most cringe inducing things I've ever heard.

Bairstow with 2 wicket costing mistakes now

3. Missed a stumping and two catches. Confidently saying that Foakes makes at least 2/3.

Trouble with Bairstow is that you just know Foakes takes both of those chances.

I love that England are proactive and aggressive with the bat but you can't put a price on a solid keeper.

Crawley obviously played well yesterday, and we aren't going to try Bairstow opening in the Ashes. However, we had that test against Ireland where we could have tried him out with Duckett and kept Foakes in as keeper.

Too many missed chances, can't afford that on this pitch against a lineup as good as the Aussies. Still pretty evenly balanced though IMO.

On the topic above, I would absolutely have had Bairstow opening and Foakes keeping. Bairstow would be at least no worse than Crawley opening and Foakes is a better gloveman, so it would be a net gain.

However, I will say that looking at the weather forecast right now, the draw seems the most likely result.

Even if they get a lead, I don't think there will be time for them to force a result (or, for that matter, England), unless Lyon has an absolute belter in the third innings - they've scored too slowly and if the forecast is to be believed this is likely going to be a four day match in total, not five.
