Fair enough - take your point, I wouldn’t have a clue but surely 15/16 has left some residual fans.
Out of interest how do you think we should tackle growing out the club commercially abroad?

honesty, without premier league football it’s not possible in the slightest.

Even with it, I personally don’t think its something we should be focusing on. Even with our recent success we’ve barely achieved anything. The only real way is being a premier league ever present that has exciting big name players and continued success.  Anyone who knew football, seemed to absolutely love vardy.

Our general popularity was high, there just wasn’t fans. So financially I really don’t think it achieves much.

I was actually invited to go to a Canadian fans legends zoom call. There were only 9 of us on the call (that weren’t staff) and half of the group were brit’s that moved. That’s how little we are abroad 😂. Not that i’m complaining, was class to have a good chat with taggart, walsh and elliott. But kinda shocking that that’s all they could find. (added the photo so you can see 😂 that’s me with the kiddo)

The logic with these tournaments are that you can create a fan from a special experience. Maybe that’s a kids first game and they take a shine to us. But when you are there with bigger clubs, it’s unlikely that people are going to use that moment to decide to follow us.

So essentially, in my opinion for a club like us (or as we were) the only way we will attract real interest, unless we have consistent champions league football, is by signing a star from their country. If you had the captain from thailand or even china in our team, you could be sure their would be people following us.

Perfect example of why we need a strong manager. You had an interim in Smith who was never going to stand up against this utter farce.

Getting promoted.

Once again, another honking decision by the club. Let's treat everyone to a trip abroad after a stinker of a campaign and give them more excuses to lounge about and do as little work as possible.

Have you been to se asia in late July ? playing football in those conditions is not a treat!

The travelling is obviously the issue but if it’s a short trip overall then I guess the time difference can be regulated as a sort of half way house.

Depending on conditions here in July, it may not be clever to take a squad of athletes to se asia for a short trip and to to play two games - but I’d hope that the medical and conditioning people would be given some control over the schedule

Really good commercial revenue if there's nothing contractually obliging us to play our first team. If it makes financial sense for Liverpool, Tottenham, Bayern and Roma to do it, then we certainly can't afford to miss out.

Send the U23s to play the game, spread the global brand and don't let it impact our preparation for the first game in the Championship.

I completely agree it’s not ideal but we need some money and a guess this is worth a bit to us. With covid we couldn’t do any of this so at the first opportunity Top wants get us out there. It’s wouldn’t be my choice but he’s the gaffer.

This would make sense for out preparation but at the same time... I dont think the club will want to send our youth team to get hammered 15-0 or more by Bayern and anybody else. Especially on our owners home turf.

We've screwed ourselves here

We need a proper pre-season. Trips to Mansfield, Doncaster, Barnsley and maybe a game against a newly promoted premier league side like Luton or Sheffield United would not only be far better preparation for the upcoming season, but would also help the club reconnect with its local supporter base. Sack this nonsense off.

Have heard that we are considering a way to pull out of this, but there could be fines if we do.

you’d have expected that the club would have put in a clause that says we can pull out if we are relegated. We must have been close to the drop zone when this was negotiated and if the organisers want to have sanctions on withdrawal then we should have found a way to protect us.  Then it becomes about whether we want to take the money or not - if you’re right then we just lose money

If the new manager has any balls he will go into the office and say this bullshit tournament isn't happening

He probably will but it won't stop it happening.

Whoever comes in will have to live with this as contracts are signed.

Our owners won't want to lose face in there own back yard. I would think this is just wishful thinking.

As much as i loved watching these three play for LCFC under Martin Oneil, my god, listening to them for a live post-match conference discussion is so damn DULL and boring, holy crap Please keep Gerry off them. i cant listen for more than 5 minutes before switching off and thats even when we win games.

They're all on the club payroll - absolutely nonsensical when these guys get wheeled out by BBC/Sky to talk about Leicester tbh. They're not going to say anything that'll rock the boat, whether it's on LCFCtv Pravda or on mainstream television/radio

Can't stop shaking my head at the idiocy of this decision. If we're that hard up for cash that we are genuinely prioritising these short-term revenues above a long-term plan to return to the Premier League ASAP then we should all be very, very worried.
