After the forwards we've tried in recent seasons - Tete, Under, Musa, Slimani etc - I'm hoping this time we'll give the man time. So long as the midfield functions well (well still to be seen) , I'm sure we'll create the chances.

So he's primarily a LW. So the mythical right sided winger / attacker remain elusive. Remarkable how fecking hard it is to find someone for that side!!!

Left footed players are like 10% of all footballers, that's what makes it so difficult I think. You are scouting from a much smaller pool of players.

It is quite incredible we found a player of Mahrez's quality for 400k. Steve Walsh deserves so much credit for that, originally asked to scout someone else and came back with "I found you someone even better." And he was right!

Welcome the leicester, should settle quickly as no doubt he moves back to derby close to where he was born?

looking forward to seeing him and the other newbies at the open training session tomorrow.

Bugger, turns out he's a knobhead

Well, at least it's a bit more enthusiastic than his intro speech.

Although you wouldn't know it from pre-season - Marcal has tended to play that side :dunno:

If he turns out to be what we're missing going forward, this is literally the least important aspect.

We'd probably have had better luck in that position if we hadn't obsessed about him being left footed - i know it gives a certain dynamic, but surely five years of an upgraded albrighton would have been better than ghezzal et al?

Just as long as he’s sensible if he gets a bit of stick on social media after a bad performance, it’s quite refreshing to see a player interact with fans and show keenness. The interactions are quite cringeworthy, but I’d say that’s a positive as they must be quite genuine.

He probably sees us as a route back to the PL and wants to be a part of getting back there in the first place. Just what the doctor ordered.

The midfield will be the most crucial area of the team this season.

Defensively, we’ll manage ok at this level.
Our attackers will score goals at this level.

The midfield worries me. I hope Winks steps up like so many on here have said he will, because he needs to.

We had neither of either really. No left wingers and Albrighton who about passes as a right winger. We still need another 3 new wingers IMO.

Marcal will be one of them you would imagine?

There's no guarantees, and it's not the finished article - but if we take a midfield and attacking wide men as being - Mav/KDH/Winks/Ndidi or Praet/Albrighton - on paper, that's a midfield that should not be playing in the championship.  I'm not worried, but, as with anything on paper, it might be 'too good to be true'?

...it is not hard, we are just useless in finding one!!!

At this moment unless he is at Villa or at Southampton, they are not inclined to look too much afar.

This was one that was at Derby, just down the road, and went to Crystal Palace for free, from Derby!!!

Yeah there's a chance. I think we need a main RW and at least 1 other winger who's going to make regular contributions, then need ACM to replace Maddison that also can cover out wide too.

I'm actually thinking if Iheanacho goes maybe the versatile striker we need is someone like Tyrese Campbell who was very good at this level as a RW but he like Mavididi plays either out wide or as the CF.

What sort of pre season has this lad had? Can we chuck him in on sunday?

French league starts the same day as the Premier League, so he is probably a week behind the rest of the team in terms of fitness. I suspect he comes on after 60 minutes.

Has Wanya actually looked any good this pre season? I’ve not really seen much of him? And where does he usually play?

From what i've seen he's been involved in the play a fair bit but hasn't really put up too much end product.

I suspect he'll play a role off the bench this season and will start here and there.

He's a winger. Most often from the right but has played off the left mostly this pre-season (given until last night we didn't have a left winger).
