Fine with this. The club needs to live with the ridiculous contract they offered last summer. Let's not forget he was up there with the best Championship centre backs a year ago and he has his last World Cup place to play for. It's important to get rid of the two other clowns in Faes and Coady now.

Nelson, Vesterguard, Okoli and Souttar is adequate cover for me.

lol He thinks he's some saint for saying that.

Everything that has ever happened at the club is bigger than him.

Is Souttar ever going to be fit. That'll only leave three which isn't going you be enough for a long Championship season (plus cups).

I think the talk is around Christmas time, but I think Hamza and JJ is adequate cover for 4th choice until then. If we are fortunate inside the next few seasons to achieve promotion, I want the club to be able to strengthen the starting 11, not use the excuse that we've heard so much that they need to get rid of players first. Use this opportunity as a reset.

I’d sooner sell the two of them than Vestergard.

I’d prefer to sell all three and throw in VK as a makeweight.

Was a big part of the last promotion, and can do a back 3 or back 4 comfortably and will do ok in the championship. Can shift some other big wages and live with him until next World Cup, if Denmark overperform there will be some mugs somewhere who would take him

Can the redemption arc become a pulse wave?  Is there one more sizzle in the Danish pan?  Is a cheese cob still a cheese cob if it's made with a processed slice?  Do the seagulls still follow the trawler?  ...

When does the season begin again?

I wasn’t keen on Maresca in terms of the slow crab ball but you had to be grateful for at least gaining promotion. However, any goodwill towards him, as far as I am concerned, disappeared when he left a new contract for this waste of space as his parting gift…..

Enzo giving him a new contract mid season was probably his worst decision for us.

His new contract was announced after Enzo had already left. The second we thought there was any danger whatsoever of Enzo not being here, that contract offer should have been in the shredder.

Announced being the key word, it was apparently done months before.

Ah fair enough, I know we'd been in talks with him during the second half of that season but didn't remember seeing anything about an agreement being reached until it became official. Prime example of why ineffectual DoF + giving manager too much influence over squad building = big problem.

Better for everyone if we move him on. Ben Nelson is the future - he needs to be first choice next season. Don’t want him spending the whole year bailing JV out of trouble. A year with Coady would be good for his development

The fact that 'JV' now means Jannik Vestergaard....

Yep, that's when it was announced, doesn't mean that's when it was signed.

Anyone who doesnt think this bloke is nowhere near the level required is clueless.

Look at the lump in these goals for gods sake. At some point it has to stop being 'he's not being played in the right setup' and more that he doesnt have the attributes to be a competitive centre back.

He's not even half as good on the ball as our fans like to make out either.

He'll have been here 6 years when we finally shift him.

Haha! I can't wait for #Vesty2030 to be announced at the end of this campaign :D
