His return from long term injury could not have been timed any better. Perhaps just two weeks late.

Yep fair to say and with no exaggeration we wouldnt of got a single point with Ward in goal.

We are so lucky to have Jakub as backup. I believe we have two number 1s.

I just hope we have him on a long term Contract now. To keep others away from poaching him.

Not saying you said this, but only two games ago people said he wasn't PL quality and not ready for the step up. He had a great game but without sounding like Roy Keane, he's there to make saves. Let's see if he can do it consistently as I imagine we're still a ways from Mads coming back in.

I understand what you are saying, the last time I seen someone as good ahim coming through was Pickford at Sunderland, And he hasn't done too badly. Apart form Everton problems.

There's not much to choose between them I'd say Mads is slightly ahead with the Ball at his feet whereas Jakub is better at coming off his line for Corners etc. Something he done to great effect on Sunday.

We're lucky to have both.

Last person I heard say that was Brendan Rogers, and Danny Ward was one of them. Sends a shiver down my spine.

Well that just proves what we know about Rogers recruitment knowledge.   I don't think we can even blame Rudkin on Ward.

In my opinion, mads is exceptional, especially for his age.  Jakub is very good with the potential to become exceptional.

I don't follow the u23s or whatever, but I have heard Jakub's name mentioned several years ago as one that Could be a bit special.

It winds me up when some on this thread make pronouncements about his ability like he's not good enough or he's championship level based on next to nothing.  We need to tie this kid down if we haven't already.

I said from last season he would be good enough, especially as a backup. Was surprised by the criticism in the early games as I thought it was the defence making him look bad, but glad he's now getting the credit.

I think he’s very good in most areas but am totally unconvinced by his kicking. However I do like that when he faces a high press he’ll just launch the bloody thing as if it’s a hot bob-omb straight into touch.

I thought Rogers had recommended him to the Club when he agreed to sign. Either way what a disaster of a signing.

A bit like Kasper then.....

Got a presence about him seeing how tall he is.

Don't think we'll have a job on our hands to keep hold of him either, so hopefully a nice sensible contract offer at the end of this season for 4/5 years regardless of if Mads is still with us or not.

I was happy with him last season and I'm pleased with his performances this. I feel it's a bit harsh to criticise too much, he's very young in goalkeeper years and has only had a few PL games to adjust to very quickly. And, he's working with a fairly unstable defence, I'm being kind there.

The more he plays, the more experience he's getting and the more he'll learn and develop. So far, I'd say he's doing very well.

He had an interesting journey to joining us. https://przegladsportowy.onet.pl/pilka-nozna/premier-league/niespotykana-historia-z-polakiem-w-roli-glownej-teraz-jest-o-nim-glosno/pvne5hn

Started out at UKS Chęciny (a village youth team essentially), then Piast Chęciny in the 7th tier. In that region of Poland all of the good players would be hoovered up by Korona Kielce, and if you didn't play for Korona you didn't get picked for the Provincial team - he could have signed with them but "We decided that it didn't make sense. Korona was winning matches 15:0, the goalkeeper had practically nothing to do there, and in terms of training, it's best for a goalkeeper to play in a weaker team"

Instead, his parents signed him up to a trial match organised by a scouting agency and from there he went on trial with us, Swansea, Arsenal and RB Leipzig.

Also all orchestrated by former Derby striker Gregorsz Rasiak

My guess is Mads back on Tuesday, or never coming back. ;-)

Definitely on Rodgers radar regardless, came through during his days at Liverpool.
