That is ignoring our first FA cup win though, yes he is a useless self obsessed gimp, but to suggest we would have been better off not employing him is a bit tunnel vision.

was giving him control of recruitment a pre-requiste for him joining then? As a tactician and a coach, he's perfectly competent, but every club he goes to has serious recruitment problems and spends a lot of money with minimal ROI from those players... a sensible dof sidelines him as much as possible on that element

oh he 100% saw the mess he'd made and that was to come, had the massive payoff in mind and made deliberately bad decisions on the hope they'd sack him and he could spin it as not being backed.

Thing is, his record of leaving things in a worse state than he found them as far as recruitment structure goes (Swansea the outlier) was obvious before we appointed him, so someone didn't do their homework. Someone who's job it was maybe to oversee football operations, a director of football if you will

The whole thing was a massive step backwards from LCFC. We acted really tinpot and desperate putting him above the club. Look how Brighton dealt with De Zerbi for example, who was starting to pull similar tricks.

No dispute there, he arrived believing his own press and left the same. He has structurally a serious problem for LCFC's recent history.

Winning it finally was great. But it's 5 one off games, a few of which could easily have against us. Winning cups is nice, but personally I don't think they're a good judge of performance levels or size of club. I don't think that only Brendan Rodgers could have achieved a cup win with the circumstances he walked into.

With that in mind, I definitely do believe that there were other managers that could have won a cup, finished top 4 and not left us in absolute pieces financially, with a weaker club staff and ageing overpaid playing staff.

Was in no way celebrating him, just that we happened to win our first FA cup under his management, so there were some highlights regardless of the fallout from his tenure.

I had a lot of conflicting emotions on that day, I ended up deciding to enjoy the win and then resume my dislike for him the following week :D

Different things are important to different people, so these kinds of things are always massively subjective. All that's certain is that if someone tries to portray Rodgers in any kind of positive light, I'll be there to try and put it out lol

I like Jakub and thought signing Begovic was a strange signing. But seeing him play since coming into the team he's been excellent.

He can also help bring Jakub on to the next level given his experience and leadership qualities.

He wasnt excellent when he was flapping at crosses against Middlesborough in one of his two games here.

Because everyone was backing in on top of him. What about the save he made also, He certainly hasn't let us down unlike many of the outdield players have.

I was very pleased with Bergovic and how he played, but Jakob is the future and he needs to be given  every chance he can be to develop. I’m no longer going to be concerned  if he gets injured again though..

I dont mean the goal. Before that there was two or three crosses where he completley misjudged it and we were lucky not to concede from. Was much better against Norwich

He didn’t even get to flap at crosses, he stood there, did **** all and watched then as they flew past.

Another keeper who makes great saves but doesn’t command his box, we’ve had loads of them over the last 20 years.

I totally agree Jakub is the future. But it's nice to have an experienced Keeper who still offers something as backup, Unlike Ward.

Begovic did a reasonable job, but I felt so much more confident having Jakub back in net. Totally agree that it was great to see him stand up to the Derby lad, need more like Jakub

In many ways first name on the team sheet if fit.

One expert in the match thread today, whined why does he hoof it up like some rugby player does? (Maybe the keeper has sussed derby can't score and equalise when the ball is a hundred feet in the sky.

I'm wondering if this same chimp asks on another week why do we bother playing the ball out f?rom the back

While it was annoying it was the safer option.  As soon as JV wanted control out the back the tempo swung in Derbys favour and it became messy.
