Can't remember who it was (possibly Albrighton?), but I remember an ex player saying he's a talented keeper but needs to be less hard on himself.

Stacks up.

There's nothing wrong with analysing where you can improve, but the best keepers are arrogant.

He's clearly too prone to losing his confidence and he's shaky as a result.

You can afford 'confidence players' in attacking positions. But not in net.

The outstanding saves he's capable of making will never compensate for the consistently shaky presence his personality creates.

That's just the harsh reality of sport at the highest levels. Not that I'd expect our lot to recognise that. What's the opposite of ruthless? We have an abundance of ruth. We are ruth abundant.

Just casually watching whilst the ball goes into the net …..

It’s not the watching I’ve got the issue with here. Are we ignoring the fact that he’s literally outside of his area 😂

He is absolutely shit, which is a shame as he looked more than good enough when he stepped in last season.

To think we had Iversen and Johansson on the books and let them go for free to keep this twat

As bad as Stolarcryk has been, let’s not suggest that Iverson or Johansson would be any better in this team/toxic club/behind the defence we have.

Not to mention Iverson was chased out of here in the first place.

If you watch the sequence back, a stronger keeper wipes out Nelson and the QPR player if he’s coming that far out of goal.

I blamed Nelson originally an he’s at fault, however Stolarkzyk needs to clear this just as much if he’s coming into no man’s land.

How long is Begovic out for?

Stolarczyk is far too rash and loves to come flying out far too often. It's cost us yesterday, at PNE away and I'm sure there's another one in there.

It creates a shaky back four.

Doesn't command well enough from corners either for me

It's not even the first goal is it. The third goal, yet again, he doesn't know whether to come or not and gets caught in between. He's not strong enough or good enough. All the goals conceded yesterday highlight massive communication errors which I've said all season that he doesn't seem to talk enough.

Should have come and sorted the first goal out.

Should be aggressive and come to punch the corner for the third goal out.

Zero command of the area or six yard box.

Rowett sacked him off for Begovic because he knows he’s crap but has had to reluctantly put him back through injury. Otherwise he wouldn’t be playing again this season because Rowett is like all of us and thinks he’s shite

I'm reading this as 'should have taken a red card to prevent the goal' and, hmmm.

It might be revisionist but I remember him being a bit of a throwback under enzo, he seemed to come out miles and claim crosses, in particular the FA cup game against Bournemouth, and reminded me honestly a bit of Petr Cech, kept quite a lot of clean sheets too. This season he’s been more like Peter Sutcliffe. Am I misremembering this majorly or has his drop off been this severe

What does this mean in practice, given the striker's touch to knock it over him was outside the area?

Technically atrocious, throw in poor judgment, zero communication and a lack of bravery and you have another out of the Danny Ward school of goalkeeping.

Absolutely overload at the earliest opportunity.

From where I sat I thought he made a meal of the save leading up to the corner. Could have adjusted his feet and just caught it. But might have been my angle.

Seen that play happen loads where a keeper is full blooded and heads it. I’m not asking him to use his hands outside the box. But he’s not aggressive enough like he wasn’t for the third goal

He’s only in because Begovic is injured. King dropped him and Rowett wasn’t willing to stick him back in until Begovic got injured because they both know he isn’t up for it at this level. League 1 keeper max when you look at the bollock drops he’s made this season

So using that theory Donnarumma wouldn't make a difference?

Bit of a difference between Donnarumma and any of Stolarcryk, Iverson or Johansson…

I think it's harsh blaming him for the 1st goal, as any competent CB wouldn't put him in that position. That's our biggest problem, the GK is shit but so are our CBs and FBs. Nobody is good enough to cover for each other. But if Rowett wont play Laschelles or give Aluko a chance, this is as good as it gets.

He should be on the edge of his box though, no keeper should be anywhere near their line at that point.

The criticism seems to be that he didn't decide to commit to coming out at this point when the ball bounces 10 yards outside his box and the CB looks like they should be dealing with it. If he had come out for this it would have been a poor and rash decision. The bounce doesn't carry into the box, so he's just left with a striker at full pace who has the luck of the bounce and been completely let through.

I think he's been shaky, but it's incredibly harsh to lay criticism at his door for the first goal in my opinion. As happens a lot with keepers that end up in these positions, the complaint seems to be that he didn't know exactly what was going to happen. Rather than appreciating the context of the situation and realising there's several possible outcomes to weigh up.

Credit to the finish as well, he had a hell of a lot to do.
