We need some serious quality in the attack. It’s pathetic right now

We all agree, but nice to see that the two goal scorers today were from youngsters / players not expected to be in the first team. One of those was the addition of quality to the game when it was getting ragged. Also, in the first half Ihenacho was very unlucky not to score.

The second half was a major disappointment. In the first half, I was really impressed by Mavididi, but it felt like he left his brain in the locker room at half time! Marcal also faded, which was a disappointment given how he played the first period.

What is beyond question though is we need additional quality and depth. I think we need at least two more wingers, exactly for games like this when we are chasing a winner and have to put on fresh players with the skill to make something happen. Every game we've played so far has played out in a similar way. We have tons of the ball but find it hard to break the opposition down, and gaps appear as we push up. Quality attackers will be the difference between automatic promotion and playoffs I think.

We were lucky not to be behind with our silly mistakes at the back (and shakiness at the back generally with Vesty and Faes). If Cardiff had been more clinical, they would have scored before we did. That is the point.

But that works both ways, we could have had three more by half time, doyle could have had a couple 2nd half - other than the one on one, they didn't have any glaring chances, just some shots from distance.

Felt draw would have been fair result, I agree with elliot who said our attacks were too structured, needed more flexibility, then that free kick which we almost threw away by trying to overplay it, but luckily KDH rode a tackle, the ball got in the box, and in the chaos we scored.

It wasn’t pretty at times but this is the championship. A little worried by our creativity as that could be the difference between automatic and play offs. Still the mentality has changed and we keep going to the end and look fitter.

It ain’t exciting, or swashbuckling or end to end.

But it’s effective and it’s solid.

The tactics gradually grind the opponents down and our fitness levels (a number of players who were used to training before at Premiership level) is a big factor I think.

This is life under Maresca. Tactically he’s very astute from what I’ve seen so far.

I've always thought if we can get the 4 wins out of 4, however we can get them, be top or 2nd when the transfer window shuts, and it just focuses minds more. If we can get a couple in great, if not try and find a way to use some of these unused players. If we can't get sensible fees for these wantaway players give them 2 options focus ya mind for 4 months and be involved or train with the kids.

Take the win.

Maybe a bit fortunate to have 3 wins but, no matter.  it’s results that count and we will get better. We need to build on this - 1 or 2 attacking players needed - so Rudders needs to move some out this week.

It's so tough to manage expectations, isn't it?

We all knew (well, the level headed amongst us) that it was never going to be plain sailing. Installing a new system, culture, playing staff and coaching staff takes time and we are seeing that just now.

Our defensive unit hasn't gelled yet and are prone to mistakes, the system isn't fully clicking at times and our lack of creativity is being exposed, no more so than today.

BUT....

We are winning and there are points in every match so far that are encouraging so again, it's about managing expectation and not expecting the final product right away whilst appreciating that even though we are still a working progress, we are winning games and not only that, we are winning games late which shows a vast improvement in fitness and mentality from last year.

I think Cardiff will be in the playoff challenge mix at the end of the season, was a decent win I thought, we aren't going to dominate every side, but we did a good job containing them, was patient and got the win with KDH having his best game

Ffs....3 games in and 9 points.  Yes we ride our luck at times but people forget we could easily have been 3 up before Ramsey wonderstrike....I don't get we were very lucky at all and the stats don't suggest that either.....admit it was a crap stream but we should have been out of sight by half time....christ this place would be in meltdown if we were on 2 points like Leeds....it will take time and we will also lose when unlucky....do some people on here expect us to be playing glorious football 3 games in when we don't even know what our squad will look like in 2 weeks time....

The lucky part is the absolute garbage level of finishing at this level. Our defence has not improved in the slightest since last season and we are getting away with it. Which I'll take.

Thoughts and prayers with those hoping for a draw so they could slam the tactics.

Didn't go to the game but it sounds like some of our fans were moaning in the stadium (no atmosphere again), we really have some embarrassing supporters, I really wish they'd support someone else, some team where they don't have to use their brain

I must have been watching a different to people saying we were poor or it was a shit house. We were utterly dominant first half should have gone in 3 or 4 up then the second half it became a scrappy battle but we had the heart and desire for it.

Up the fuching city.

Forza Enzo.

We were decent, Cardiff were decent

I don't recall our defence making any significant mistakes today, most of cardiff's good chances came from our #8s and wingers making bad decisions, getting fouled, or making bad passes.  I thought the defence and winks actually did really well to limit the damage.

I would not expect too much improvement in the championship.....we are not premier league!

Yeah its a problem, we only seem to unite either when we comfortably winning or to defend rodgers ball either by forcing down banners or singing against anti possession tactics.  The amount of abuse aimed at players every time they make a mistake as well.

First half we had 64% possession and 8 shots to 2, with twice as many completed passes - which is pretty dominant :)
