I am very certain that Leicester have a list of strikers that tick the boxes for Enzo. They would always have known that certain players could be targets for other clubs. Players in the last year of their deal are sending a clear message that they want out & clubs know that they will be cheaper !!

Let's not forget that Maresca will also have extensive knowledge of players that were targeted for Man City's development team but were deemed to be not quite good enough for Man City...

Piroe was the one.

We slept on that, and it'll come to haunt us.

We'd have had to sell one of our strikers to make this possible. And no-one had any concrete interest in the ones we have, somewhat unsurprisingly. Piroe would have been nice in place of the likes of Daka, but without shifting personnel first, this was never going to happen.

We know that every window there are many last minute deals & as long as JR can get the Fax machine working we should be fine.

...so long as all the paperwork is in on time, then the deal can be concluded later down the line!!!

I've got a sneaking feeling (no more than that - and not based on any fact), that Nacho will still be with us next week. And (sticking my neck out, even more), so will Ndidi.

Their involvement in the Tranmere squad (and Ndidis importance in that game), just makes me think that Maresca can't afford to lose them. And the fact that we've had no SERIOUS links with any other striker (and didn't pursue Piroe  - despite probably being able to afford him 'on tick' - with likely sales), I reckon he'll be staying.

Shoot me down, if you like!

Ekitike linked to Palace as well, so perhaps they won't settle for getting only Iheanacho, or will try and get both...

linked with Adams from Southampton too, and forest are close to signing Hudson-Odoi from chelsea

and Nunes might not be leaving Wolves either

Wont be long before we know!

My sneaky feeling is we will try and defer the Ndidi transfer to January. I think Nacho will go, and it was quite telling he didn't feature in the Tranmere game. Have a gut feeling Nacho's head is going to get turned by a big salary offer.

AFCON very much disrupts January transfers, although maybe by the end of January it's largely done and dusted.

They both seem happy and enjoying the football we are playing. Can see them both signing new contracts 🤞

Why would they?

We can't afford to pay them PL money. They have all the power.

It makes no sense for them to sign one from their point of view!

Nacho looks happy? Ndidi does but Nacho doesn't look happy at all to me. After the Cardiff game Ndidi was all smiles and signed loads of autographs. Nacho put a hoodie on and couldn't get out of the ground quickly enough. I think Enzo has asked quite a lot of both of them, and Ndidi has shone where as Nacho looks uncomfortable.

I think signing new contracts is a massive stretch when there a PL teams circling.

Well… they could sign a new one on PL money (the amounts they’re on now) and have a release clause for them to leave if we don’t get promoted.

It saves us losing them on a free and they might actually want to see if we can go straight back up. Any point leaving to go to a Forest when we could be in the same league next year?

What's in it for them?

Well they get the big wages now that they’re getting anyway and a cheap move next summer if it goes tits up. So really they’re not losing anything apart from 30 games of PL football?

These are players who have been here a long time so maybe they actually enjoy playing for us? Just thinking out loud really lol

I keep forgetting about AFCON. I presume their agents do their stuff regardless. It just increases the chance of injury between now and then.

I've been very much in the 'get rid if out of contract camp', but i presume Enzo and Rudders are now going to work out which ones can stay. It will be very interesting to see where we end up, but i think it will be quite disruptive leading up to the Hull game.

You just said they are getting that anyway?

They can walk away for free anyway in the summer.

There is no benefit to them.

But if we go up would they want to walk away? Ndidi is only going to Forest….they could easily go down and we go up.

In this situation you sit tight and leave on a free. That way you get a big signing on bonus somewhere, or if we do get promoted you negotiate a nice new contract.  There are rumours that Wolves might be offering Nacho £100k a week. There isn't a scenario where these guys sign a new contract for us in the championship and it works in their favour.

I think Forest will be ok.

Wilf may also fancy a new challenge, change of scenery
