...Thomas could not play the role that Maresca needed him to play!!!

Doyle I suspect we wanted him to bring him in as he suited the role and Kristiansen stating his case made the decision less complicated for Maresca.  Justin has come in and just about held it together, but there will be a marked difference when Doyle returns, regarding support to the Midfield and Left Winger.

Not saying Thomas would be first choice but if VK stays we probably don't get Doyle and Thomas stays as back up ????

...I still think that Thomas would have gone on loan, Fullbacks are not what we use in this system!!!

Thomas still needs that loan to a Championship club if he's going to make it with us

Still believe that Maddison, KDH and Thomas didn’t make him feel welcome in the slightest either. It was plain to see that Maddison and KDH had an issue with him taking their boys place in the team. For me, they were either avoiding passing to him or playing balls into him that were purposely played short, leaving him exposed.

if you watch back his first few games you might see this now.

I think that’s more to do with the fact VKs second touch was a tackle and he treated the ball like a ticking time bomb.

He put in some distinctly average and I’d say even a few awful displays for us. Just a complete waste of £17,000,000. The January recruitment was horrible in hindsight in an attempt to maintain our Premier league status.

His completed passing % was something like 69.5% for us last season. If you look at the likes of Ricardo (79ish %), Justin (82.5%), Doyle (81.8%) and even Thomas (78%), the bloke conceded possession far to much and caused us issues in turnovers.

He could tackle but he honed that skill from losing the ball in the first place and having to get it back.

He was just an angry person, who didn’t want to be here and was rightly bumped out of the club. Hopefully he never plays for us ever again.

This is the highlights from the weekend, when he played against Fiorentina.

No idea what he’s doing for the first goal.

Then he’s given a penalty away.

Nah that was happening all over the pitch from a team whose players lacked confidence, motivation and interest in playing for Rodgers

If you stop it on 11 seconds, it looks like he's looking after 3 players :D

I've no idea how anybody can reasonably blame him for the first goal - it's just a brilliant finish. Even the penalty was a bit soft - Ikoné uses his arm to hold Kristiansen off, Kristiansen responds by grabbing a bit of Ikoné's shirt and Ikoné throws himself to the floor. They're sometimes given but often aren't. It was more a case of Ikoné buying the penalty than Kristiansen being particularly reckless.

He’s still quite likeable. Left to play football in position he wants. Think clear to most certain cliques in squad which Rodgers should have dealt with earlier did not make a 19 year old feel welcome, which is fairly telling where we were as a squad. Not blaming that clique itself but more the shambles of a team we had under that charlatan

Shame it comes to end, but like the bloke

He does seem to have an arrogance about him when you consider how few Hi level games he's played.

It's as if he was too good for us when he couldn't even nail down a spot at little old Leicester.

How is it arrogant to admit finding it hard to adapt to a new club & country, feeling lonely and feeling that one's strongest part of the game is neutered?

A good player player needs to have confidence in his own abilities if he wants to succeed.  That confidence could be mistaken for arrogance by some people, The lad has stated that he enjoys the offensive side of the game & he doesn't want to play the CB position. He still may return and play for us but regardless I wish him the best of luck.

Except that's not what he said.  If he said he was finding it hard to settle I could understand that.

He's a player who hasn't done anything in the game who we paid a lot of money for don't forget.

Yeah, looks pretty atrocious for both goals! Did Bologna have a Buy option with the loan? Could do with him not playing like that again!! 🤣

Who said he was a good player. ?  So he get's a chance to come and play in the biggest league in the world.

Most young players would give the proverbilly right Arm for the opportunity. And don't forget he cost 17 million or so.

When he should be keeping his head down and working hard, He's spitting his dummy out and complaining about the Club.

That's either stupidy or arrogance to me, take your pick.

You don't hear Thomas coming out with rubbish and he's an FA Cup Winner who's earned the right to speak up if he had a reason too.

I hope the Club gets rid asap. I want players who were the Shirt with pride and committed to the Club at least while we're paying them.

I said he was a good player !!

He has explained his position quite clearly without disrespecting the club or the manager.

He did say that: (https://bold.dk/fodbold/klubber/bologna/nyheder/vks-turbulente-ar-gav-mig-ar-pa-sjaelen) - google translated

It was a very hard six months. It was probably the hardest way to get abroad as a young player.

- I came to the best league in the world and saw a very dysfunctional team that was under enormous pressure, had many contract expirations and a coach who was also under pressure and was later fired.

It was very difficult to be brought in as one of those who had to save the whole team and the whole club at a very young age.
Once in a while, when I sat by myself, I wondered if this is what it's like to be abroad.

- I hadn't tried anything else, so I had nothing to compare it to.

- I was alone over there, and it's hard to have to deal with all those things alone. It has clearly left some small scars on the soul.
