:D i'd love that to be the case. all 3 of my kids have Autism. They can be a handful, especially on a plane"

Yes. we had genetic testing.  from my wife's side of the family, apparently. Not that it matters of course. The first one is  somewhat high functioning and we were first time parents  and didnt know any better and just thought he was active and quirky, the second one we knew he had issues fairly early on and were told because we had a ' normal' child it would be a 50-50 chance if we had another of them having Autism... third one hardly says a sound at all!

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has applied for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas's leader in Gaza for war crimes.

Karim Khan KC said there were reasonable grounds to believe that both men bore criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity from at least 7 October 2023.

Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas's political leader Ismail Haniyeh, its military chief Mohammed Deif are also wanted for arrest.

The ICC, based in The Hague, has been investigating Israel's actions in the occupied territories for the past three years - and more recently the actions of Hamas as well.

Mr Netanyahu recently called the prospect of senior Israel figures joining the ICC's wanted list "an outrage of historic proportions".

These institutions and others like it are an absolute joke. Usually you get countries that have committed atrocities on the panels. For instance why has the ICC never issued warrants for Syrias Assad and his cronies. You can understand Israels and United States anger that democratic countries are being targeted whereas countries with dictatorships are not.

The main problem is that the countries committing the ‘atrocities’ /where they are committed are not signed up to the treaty of rome

 

these warrants are only able to be sought on the basis that the Palestinian authority signed up to the treaty approx ten years ago.  Putin can be charged because of events that took place in ukraine.  Hamas will argue that the court has no jurisdiction over them because events in Israel are not covered and Gaza is not under the control of the Palestinian authority.  accepting the Palestinian authority as a signatory (West Bank and Gaza) when Gaza is not controlled by them is something that is legally tricky.  

 

in my opinion, netenyahu and gallant should set out their defence to the ICC ahead of them considering the request for the issue of a warrant.  It’s feasible that the court would not actually issue the warrants if it isn’t convinced that there is a strong enough legal case to answer at this time. They could easily say that the complexities of the charges means that they need to be convinced that there is a reasonable chance of the cases being proven before issuing the warrants.

That's one way to reduce the crime figures

Absolute ridiculous to say make fewer arrests!. Crime needs sorting out. Give tougher community sentences, don't just not arrest people!. We need to be building more prisons. If there is no deterrent of course there will be more crime. FFS.
