The King Power can hold up to 32,373 supporters for Leicester’s home games, putting the club behind the likes of Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United, among others in the second tier.

The average attendance at the Leicester home ground so far this season has seen 31,387 people watching Maresca’s side.

Are we missing nearly a 1000 fans on average for each game?

I have rarely seen us get more than 32,000, even when officially sold out. Not sure if some of the away segregation takes up some of the seats.

This season, the most likely reason the average is below 32,000 is the fact that away allocations have not always sold out. For example, Preston probably had a good 700-800 unsold. Add to that a few 100 seats in the Keith Weller/Walkers Hall going unsold too. That would be your gaps.

It's really not far off Extortion, buy an over priced membership or we wont let you in.

Either that or they just don't need the money and certainly not future long term committed fans.

With this approach they wont need a bigger stadium but then these are not the type of fans they're extending it for.

...it seems obvious that the club needs to know who they have in their stadium and can make the individuals accountable for whatever purpose!!!

In an instance where there is a "walk-up" customer, if the club insists on a "card-only" purchase, surely that ties them to an individual just the same. The only problem would be that if that card were stolen, it may not be so simple to address any wrongdoing on the premises.

I think expanding the stadium would be good, as last-minute "walk-ups" would be more frequent and have the capacity for large groups to sit together, but if the club aims to continue to monitor all their supporters as they presently do, then the expansion will serve little purpose.

If you can’t see the players walk out how do you know they are even there?

I feel like this was a tactic of Rodgers. wait until 10 minutes into the game before people can see the line up so no chance of them complaining!

I chuffin knew it!

Tactics and Rodgers in the same sentence doesn’t work.

I’ve probably told this story before but at the Brentford home game last season, which didn’t sell out, a Ukrainian refugee turned up at the stadium to buy a ticket. He (apparently) explained the situation that this was his only opportunity to ever buy a ticket for a club he’d supported for a good few years but from what he said, they made him buy a membership for the one occasion, otherwise he’d have been denied a ticket. That example for me is indicative of what the club is about now.

That’s disgusting

There's not a long wrong with insisting on membership but they only need to charge an admin fee. Unless they change their insistence  on expensive membership and buying tickets on the day more last minute walk-ups aren't going to help fill an expanded stadium.

We aren’t, it shits on the whole fan base that people are happy to be taken for mugs and do nothing about it.

What I mean is for a club of our size we are lucky we have so many people that want to go and watch our team - for the last 11/12 years we've not really had a problem filling our ground. Sadly though, you're right, that means the club will keep doing what they're doing because there's enough people that will cough up for the attendances to be big enough for them not to care about potential future fans.

They need to offer benefits with the membership (e.g. include one match ticket in the membership fee). That way a £40 membership is reasonable.

Feels like everyone drinks the KPFC kool-aid in one way or another - for some it's memberships.

My sister and her partner as v causal fans, they rocked up to the window on gameday for Stoke wanting two tickets. "got a membership?" they were asked. Ofc they don't.

So to get two tickets to the game on a walk-up they'd have had to drop nigh on £140 combined in order to get in, so they could get a membership and two expensive tickets. Naturally they walked away.

If people can't see what's wrong with that then pick up that bottle and keep drinking from it.

So even with the "membership at least" policy we still have available seats. Doubt the club will get the hint, though.

People still pay the stupid money though don't they.

Fans as a group don't help themselves

Foxestalk could genuinely set up a very decent Supporter's Group. Good reach across demographics of the fanbase and plenty of people who can articulate a point very well. Already got the people in one place and an easy way to contact members and communicate with the wider fanbase on issues discussed.

Or it could just continue to be a place to moan.

I get what you’re saying, but it’s a business. Near enough every home game this season has been sold out. That will only continue as we carry on smashing the league.

What financial sense would it make to let that pair in on matchday without memberships? Very little. Then word spreads that you can get in without a membership, then membership becomes devalued. It’s why west end theatres don’t let people in last minute for £1. ‘Yeh but that seat is empty anyway!!!’ Ok simpleton but the seat has a value and you’re not degrading it. It’s nothing to do with cool aid, this is a commercial business not a nice family friendly football club where we can all hug

Ps I’m not saying it’s a good business, but it’s a business. The logic being you extract as much value from your customers as possible. People need to make that distinction and stop thinking lcfc is some kind of commune which we all belong to

KPFC :)

How about just not having memberships as a barrier to get into the ground?

I'm saying the whole membership premise is a pile of shit, not that my sister should've gotten some form of exception.

I don’t agree with memberships but it’s naive to think a business will leave money on the table. I read some comments on here and I wonder what world people live in. Why are memberships a pile of dung when it’s a constant, predictable low risk source of revenue? What should they do? Scrap memberships and….erm… still sell out every other week…. Madness.

Your sister and her maybe £20 every few months mean nothing to the business, why should it. Low margin customer in a monopoly market, ignore

.. memberships does not guarantee turning up for every home game!!!

Season ticke holders do not always turn up for every game.

A "walk up" option probably gives just as much opportunity for a sell out for a game, so long as the tickets are on general sales.

Didn’t explain myself well. I mean, they pretty much sell out every week right now, I think? So why would they scrap memberships and all the additional revenue it creates. I’m an STH and I’ve been to one home game this season, but the club doesn’t know I’m not there every week so they aren’t selling my seat to Karen.

If you don’t like the business model, play it. There’s no need to be a member if you’re a part time  fan, find an STH and buy a guest ticket. Walk up is irrelevant as we’re pretty much full every week.
But I wonder what the trust thinks of memberships..??

City have opted for your option. Fleece what you've got for as much as you can for as long as you can. It's short termism. Broadening your appeal is safer.

It might be now but will it with an extended stadium and will all those fans that are frustrated having to fork out £31 for a few matches be put off for life.

Besides the Club talks about being part of the Community this doesn't come across as being that and for what I'd imagine if you added up all the £31 it would hardly make a ripple on the overall revenues.

Point taken, but I’m not sure! If the stadium expands and they can’t fill the seats then yeh fair, but nothing suggests they won’t.
What’s the biggest threat to city? STH always sell out. You’ll have a few spineless motormouths on here claiming they’re not renewing but of course they renew.
The £31 won’t make a difference overall but it’s someone’s revenue centre, bonus, salary metric etc. You can’t leave money on the table and you must build the next generation of customers believing they HAVE TO buy a membership to get tickets, much like our generation got conned into sky ruling the game and did nothing about it
